btw all weight on helmets above are for size large.
helmetshop.com sells the AR10 for $270 which seemed to me to be a bargin for a SA2005 helmet.
At the end of the day buy the best most comfortable helmet you can afford. Your head is worth it.

So I guess my HX11 with the hans is a good light setup...
I plan on never using it.

I can't think of a way in which you are "better off" with an M helmet.
1) Better selection of styles
2) Extra cash in your wallet
3) You can ride a motorcycle or ATV because it's DOT approved
4) Better visibility
5) More widely available and easier to purchase, in person and online.
Those are some compelling reasons why you would be "better off" buying an M rated helmet if you don't have and regulatory or practical reason to buy an SA helmet.
Man reading this thread, it reeks of ass gas.
The ONLY differences between M2005 and SA2005 helmets are as follows:
SA helmets have restrictions on ventilation, specifically forced air ventilation system inlets.
SA helmet have different standards for peripheral vision (180

Bumping this thread to ask:
Of those of you that have removable/washable liners in your helmets... how many of you have actually removed your helmet liner(s) and washed them? How frequently do you do it? I've had my current helmet for 6 or 7 years and I've never needed to wash the liner. Granted, I've mostly been doing autocrosses where I only have it on for about 5 minutes at a time, so it doesn't accumulate much sweat.
What about you track guys? Have you needed to wash the liner?
The only reason I ask is that if I can live without a removable liner, I can pick the helmet that is ~$200 less than the other. Plus, the other helmet I'm looking at is Carbon Fiber. Carbon Fiber is cool, but I just feel like it might make it more of a target for theft, since it's obviously expensive and I'm bad about just leaving my helmet sitting on the seat between sessions. Thoughts?
