Default Sequential Shifter

Anybody ever try this, or know somebody that has?

You still need to use the clutch, but it would have sequential shift pattern. With some electronics and air, it could get very interesting.

Shows an application for the S2000.

If I were you I'd try it and let us know how it works .

How about a non-sequential dogbox? Very fast clutchless shifting, up and down, like in my F2000.

Cost difference would be just a bit...

If I could afford a full sequential dog box....

Here is a thread I found about this

Seems there was talk of this on the boards before. Not going to bother looking for it with the board still acting a little off from the upgrades. A quick google search shows the price in the 1400.00 range for Subies and Mitsus so I would think the S2K wouldn't be much different, but this is an assumption by me.

Color me interested.

we have one for our shop evo, put it on and took it off... other than you cant mis-shift there really is no point. H pattern still works better

There is a huge advantage to not missing a gate and it's WAY faster. Upshifts take a fraction of a second and that's with a seq dog box. Not allowed in my class

The thing that interests me is that I could automate it. (That's what my day job is).

I could connect an air solenoid to it and push buttons. Very simple logic could be added not to allow downshifts when the rpm is already above 6000 lets say. Bliping the throttle would be relatively easy as well.

And last, but not least, no chance of grabbing a wrong gear would be very good as well.

it would be a lot easier with an 07 and drive by wire BUT the engineering hurdles would be very difficult to overcome. You are talking about an SMG type paddle shift and doing it anything but half assed (and an eventual waste of your time) requires a substantial effort and resources.

Hmm, $1400 range makes this pretty interesting...
