Default Snapped an axle

i snapped an axle at the track, and I'd like to replace both but i need to find a suitable replacement. My searches brought me to RAXLE but they no longer carry S2000 cores. So now my options are, Oem at 500ish from majestic, used at 100~200 or chinese at 20~80 bucks. I'd like to buy oem but at a 1000 bucks total, its very steep. Used imo can be a crap shoot since lowered cars eat there cv's. And I've never had a chinese axle actually fit.... Bought 3 so far, two for my s4 and one for my ML none of them fit. ended up buying used and having them remaned.

ty for the help,

heres the axle breaking

sounds like you talked yourself through all the answers.. you wanta be certain, go OEM, you want to toss the dice, go junkyard / used.. I don't know what to tell you about the aftermarket cheapest route, seems you've taken it several times to know more bout it then many.. best of luck...

all my "chinese" axles were purchased through parts warehouses in ny. (imc) i figured, they stock the dealerships, its not like its online. wrong.

The s4 i brought the axle back for a differenet one. neither fit.

the ml i bought under the impression it was a "rebuilt" used. nope. replica, 1/8th scale!

eff it. rolled the dice. called a company i know, and i'm getting a pair shipped for 100 bucks from a 30K car. 6 month warranty. Did more searching and the chinese/autozone/duralasts dont last. I'll have them both rebuilt for another 100 a piece and i'm in to them for 300. thats more reasonable then 1000 dollar stock axles not rated for heavy abuse. If someone was selling driveshaftshop 5.9 axles, sure. thats fair. stockers.... knowing i'll prob break another one. kinda scary, i dont like wasting money that fast.

Just for reference, I just went through a couple sets of these (though my car is boosted), went back and forth with DSS and heard lots of excuses until I was instructed to contact LJ @ Full Blown. He knew quite a bit about these axles, stock, known weaknesses, popular upgrades, etc. I ended up purchasing an upgraded set of axles/hubs. Maybe I was suckered into it, but either way, what I had wasn't working.

I had bad luck with a non-OEM "Ultra8" axle...

Look at that! Like it's made of cheese! by Grant.C, on Flickr

It lasted less than 2 autox's worth of launching, where the OEM had lasted probably a thousand autox launches.
