So, ... How was Sears Point?

Boy, I miss all the smack talking. The thread is dead by the time I get around to reading it. But as along as it's before the next speedventures.net event, WTH.
Anyway, I did spin several times, but Doug spun twice (that I know of). Once he spun trying to pull off a total Hail Mary lap where he came burning into turn 7 way too hot just to cross the AMB loop, without caring whether he actually made the turn or not, so he could pick up a few extra tenths of a second. The result of course was a big spin after he crossed the loop. It turned out that was his best time of the day. Unlike Hayashi's best time, my best time did not include a crazy "cheater" spin at the end.
His second spin ocurred when he was trying to keep up with me through the carousel; need I say more?

Doug's car has a comptech adjustable front sway bar, mine has the Mugen front sway bar. We both have the same width Hoosiers, but I had Volk 7.5x17 and 8.5x17 wheels, while doug runs stock rims. We both have rollbars.
I have an advantage with the lighter wheels, but I outweigh Doug by 65 lbs probably. (I weigh 225 (butt naked), Doug probably weighs 160 at the most). Doug has an advantage with the adjustable bar.
Doug, how much do you weigh (butt naked)? Tell us.

Time out! I confess to one spin (Following Aaron, I went into carosel too slow, tried to catch up with Aaron at the exit, and did a 180)
At the hair pin by start finish line, there was no spin by me. There was some uh..."spectacular" car control to prevent a car from making a spin. At the end of what I thought was a good lap, instead of taking the proper line through the turn, I tried to sorta fly through with wheels straight to get across the timing line a couple of hundredths of second faster than if properly turning through this point, but then had to gather it up again after flying across the timing line as I missed apex. Those 100ths of second can be important...
So it looked awkward, but the intent was a cheating bastard technique. I tried to convince Fluxen to get rid of the cones that blocked off the runoff area there, as I would have just floored it and went straight through the timing light and ignoring the turn completely in an effort to pick up a little time. I would look stupid, but I woulda gained maybe another 10th or so on that...
To me, a spin is if you do a 180 or your forward momentum has stopped. If you blow a turn, but you keep it on the pavement by counter steering back and forth a couple of times, that does not constitute a spin in my book!! I do not think I even put one wheel off at Sears...
If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten a ride with Wildman Bob. I noticed that Aaron dropped 2-3 seconds after going out with Bob. I tried to do it without and help, which was a big mistake!

I think Doug's account of his use of "cheating bastard" techniques to pick up a little time doesn't change my story at all. OK, so he didn't spin (I heard about all this second hand, I wasn't there), but the spirit of what he did is in full agreement with my account; he sacrificed that turn and the next lap to get a better laptime. My only problem is that I didn't think of doing the same thing. He's a "cheating bastard", and a much smarter one than me. We could all only hope to perfect the art of gaining the unfair advantage through "cheating bastard" techniques in the way that Doug has.
That said, I must admit that I don't understand what the difference is between flying through the cones, spinning out, or going through the grass, it doesn't matter, it's all the same: you missed that turn and/or sacrificed your next lap. There is nothing particularly undignified about spinning in relation to these other mishaps.
More importantly, I don't see why it should matter whether someone spins 20 times in one run session, as long as they get the best time. I hold my 5+ spins with pride; each one taught me something. I'm not as good a driver as Doug and I'm much fatter, so I have to push myself much harder; the result is lots of spins. Bobcat claims he hasn't spun in 10 years. I'm 10 years away from attaining that skill level.
As far as my weight goes, I would like to point out that every time I head over to Hayashi's trailer to borrow a welder, mooch some gas, get some water, collect on a bet, or pay a friendly visit, the cheating bastard holds out a platter of bologne, ding dongs, and twinkies, which he's pretending to eat himself. Another "cheating bastard" technique, which he began at the Virginia City Hillclimb after I stomped him at Pahrump. Gotta watch out for him. Gotta watch and learn.
