Thumbs up So many questions, please help

Hey guys, I have an 04 Greddy Turbo'd S2000 I am going to want to turn this car into track only, but in the meantime what can I do start getting into racing? For example I want to start with auto-crossing ( I am in NJ), but what level does the Turbo put me at? I make peak torque at around 4,000RPMS so I think this kit has potential to work really well at the track but what kinf of cars will I be competing against?

I also need some advice on suspension, are Coilovers the only way, or is there a good spring/strut combo that works well?

Just take the car to the autoX and don't worry about what class it goes into. You won't be competitive anyway.

Once you have done it for a while and you start to learn the skills, then you can start to worry about finding a car/class where you can be competitive.

perfect thanks. Are there instructors there that can show you a few basics before I take my first ride?

Whats the highest speed you usually see in an autocrossing event?

Thanks guys

60mph if lucky. Some sites can go higher, if built for high speed. Ask the event chair for some tips, as they should have plenty of experience guys to help out.

Depending on what local cars there are, a full blown SM2 (you class) car will blow your socks off. First event you won't look to compete, but just to get it right. Don't get into the mind set that you have to mod your car like crazy to autocross. Read the FAQ on autocross.

I don't know where you are at in NJ, but there is a double national at Pocono this weekend. You are more than welcome to come on out and check out the action. I'll be there with several other S2K's in attendance. This is the last big race in the northeast before the Runoffs.

Have to fly this weekend , However I will be flying right over the track so Ill be watching haha.

I am thinking about spending $250.00 for a day at the Englsihtown Road course (NJ). Its an instructional thing followed by a few hours of the road course, I think this might be a good start.

Says I need a tech inspection, I dont need a roll cage for that tiny little course do I ?

^ not unless the host requires it. In most cases the stock S2000 is perfectly fine to get on a track with.

Just have fun, be safe, and learn and take in the experience as a whole.

Enjoy
