So you have two sets of wheels and tires......
First set:
Perfect wheels, very worn S-02's from being auto-x'd
Second set:
One curbed wheel, one scratched, bran new Dunlop SP8000's
Do the good set of wheels stand a greater chance of being scratched/damaged if used for auto-x and the like ony, or should I swap tires, and use the good set for street driving? I can see where racing can damage them, but they can be damaged just as easily on the street (potholes, curbs).
What do you all think I should do?

Put the street tires on the "pretty" rims. Then be careful around town .
You are correct that it's more likely to curb a wheel on the street, but appearances are more important there too. I don't care too much about how perfect my car is detailed for an autocross, just as long as I am fast!

I agree as well, but mainly because your race wheels will have many more mounts/dismounts and therefore extra marks from the tire machines... not to mention corrosive brake dust.
