Default steering lock removal

This is what causes the steering wheel to lock when the ignition is switched off and the wheels are turned. Any help? I've tried the search function and can't come up with anything.

The steering lock causes it. It puts a pin into the steering column when you turn the key to off.

There are threads about it. You can pull the steering column and block the pin w/ some tape or remove the key and lock totally and replace it w/ a switch.

I assume this is for a race car?

Yes it is. What do most people do about this issue, just remove it and replace it with a toggle switch? Sorry, but I couldn't find the threads.

Much easier (and safer I think) to just drill out the "button" on the bottom of the lock mechanism, and the spring falls out. This way you don't have to remove the steering column. I think I used a 3/8" bit, but not sure; just use one that is the approx. diameter of the button, which supports the bottom end of the spring.

Actually in my case, it is a part already removed from my car. My car have NOTHING in it when I bought it. I have to buy everything for it. That is wires and all.
