Default Stoptech bbk and pads

I installed the stoptech kit with their street pad and bedded them, they seem to have good bite and didn't seem to fade... But haven't had a chance to test them on track.
Does anyone have any experience with this kit? Wondering if the street pads it came with will be good enough for track duty or should I order some pads. I was running XP12s before, so I am hoping for the same level (if not better) of fade resistance and bite. My next track day is at laguna seca and don't want to be wishing I had better pads

I don't have any experience with them, but if I was paying track fees at Laguna Seca, which is super expensive, as well as the track itself being pretty rough on brakes, I would order a set of good pads rather than "waste" my day and be sorry.

If you were going somewhere cheap, like Streets of Willow, then I wouldn't be as hesitant to try it out there.

You spent the big money on a good BBK and track fees for Laguna Seca and now you're going to cheap out on pads?! Get some pads that you know will meet your track needs. Beside, brake pads are consumables. If you find out that the stock Stop Tech brakes are fine, you eventually go through both sets of pads within a year anyways. either way I don't see much down side to getting some pads you can trust - the only downer being that you pay now instead of later.

Motoiq.com used that kit on their s2k project car. Maybe check there to see their verdict?

i would recommend tracking with familiar pads. if you're used to xp12's, get some xp12's. heading into turn 2 with crappy brakes isn't fun.

That's wha I was thinking, but wasn't sure if the stoptech street pads were good enough to handle track duty... Or if anyone used them on the track.

Stoptech knows their stuff, its nice that they actually match their calipers to the cars master cylinder.
I had the ST-40 kit on my RSX, better consistency and pad life was incredibly better (thus decreasing "operational" costs). PLEASE make sure the brake lines are secured correctly. Unfortunately, I had a track buddy of mine go off at the end of VIR's front straight because his stoptech line was worn down by the rotor. I don't like the rubber collars stoptech uses for positioning the brake line mount.
I actually have a nearly brand new set of XP10 ST-40 pads lying around, if your interested send me a PM, I just want to get rid of them.

Check out these two articles:

I spoke with StopTech and they do not recommend their street pads, the pads that come in the kit, for heavy track use. They won't necessarily fail or anything, but they said the pads would wear very quickly.

looks like unbreakable saved the day...

I'll likely swap pads at the track, since it's so damn easy with these calipers.

have the stoptech trophy bbk front, and racing brake rear, 265 tires all around. running xp10/8. with the slightly oversized rear rotor, even the xp10/8 is too rear biased--my rears still lockup first under hard braking at the track. probably will use the ax6 pads for rears later. i guess with oem rears, xp10/8 will be enough.

stoptech supposedly balanced out the biasing, but i feel that if they did, it's not enough to go same pad front to rear if you were splitting the pads with oem brakes.

btw... did laguna seca before, and DANG that track is super hard on brakes. highly suggest you upgrade the pads.

Funny this thread popped up.

My cousin just got hired onto Stoptech's engineering staff a couple months back. And at our memorial day BBQ he tells me that he was put in charge of S2k brake applications... So of course I started grilling him

I'll hit him up to ask about this though
