STR parts - interchangeability b/w AP1 and AP2
Hey guys,
So right now it seems we really don't have the money for an AP2. I want to get out of autocrossing in stock classes and get into STR though, and I also am lusting over having an s2000. I have found a really good deal on a 2000 S2k with kinda high miles (about 85k), and I'm thinking it might be a good way to race for maybe 2 years until we have the money for a lower mileage AP2. I'm hoping that then the majority of the STR parts will be able to be put onto the AP2.
So here's my question. Which of the parts that are a fairly high priority for STR end up being interchangeable, and which don't? Any other thoughts on this plan?
Thanks for input!

Yeah I got it, thanks
Most of the reason we'd be going to a newer car later is my fiance has this thing where she thinks that once a car has 100k miles it will suddenly explode at any minute. And this car would have to be a daily driver as well.
Thanks Jim for the answer!

One thing to consider is the age of the car will can affect things like bushing.
I finally got around to putting new lower A-Arms on my '01 with ~80k at the time, and the rear lower bushings were torn all the way around the bolt through them. If you can handle pressing in new ones yourself, it is a pretty cheap fix and not a deal breaker at all.
Just an FYI to take into consideration "wear items". Other ones would be the motor mounts (I've torn and replace both), and rear differential mounts (which I've also replaced due to leaking fluid).
Edit: I should also add that I winter drive the car, so the salt might be to blame for several rubber items failing.

I was really hoping no one would say anything about bushings. I have an integra type R (a 2000 with 100k miles), and I just got done hacking apart the rear control arms and putting in new ones and new shocks. The inner part of the bushings had seized to the bolts, completely, all along the bolt, both in the control arm bushings and the shock bushings. It was the most time consuming job I've ever done on a car - it took weeks. It's a pretty well known problem on integras although it's not usually quite as bad as it was for me. Usually with liberal PB blaster over the course of a few days and an impact wrench it works out, but that's not how it worked for me. I hope that doesn't happen on these cars too? This car will be driven in the winter.

Are there STR legal options other than the OEM, or *very* expensive Spoon engine/tranny/diff mounts?
There are expensive kits for sure, but there are also some reasonably priced ones for just the bushings. IMO, the upgraded bushings would be nice, but not a must have. The OEM ones work well if they are fresh.
