I got familiar with it on Hoosiers in BS, but it still happens on street tires. You don't need to tricycle to get inside wheelspin, you just need to lighten one wheel "enough." Here's my codriver getting close to tricycling at Wilmington:

And this is why those fender clips don't last very long:

That said, I was still 1.6s combined too slow for the class...

Jason and I decided to try the 245 fronts. Initial testing is encouraging as the car responds better to corner entry brake/turn in overlap without sacrificing turn in steering feel. This is only relevant to the re-71r as we have not tested the rival l-s. I'm convinced that on a more open course we are outgunned by the z06. That said, I'm gonna drive my ass off at nats and ,if nothing else, provide a data point to last year. One more tune up this Saturday and then it's on to Lincoln.

Because STR happened...

If I were to keep campaigning in AS, I'd try this:
  • SFR/Gendron Monster bar 4/6
  • MCS Non-remote DA shocks
  • Bridgestone RE-71R 255/40-17 square
  • Camber 1.9*/-2.5*
  • Toe 0 / 1/16" (in)

As far as a Street car goes, there wasn't much left in terms of development (IMO).

I think his point was the very reason WHY STR happened

Closest CR at Nats was 3.5 seconds off the pace, or 1.75 sec per day.

This^

All technical data aside.. I think the evidence (given the two course types at nationals) was fairly conclusive--the CR can't play anymore.
