Street Tire size for AP1 wheels
Hey guys!
Since most of us here either have Auto X or Track events under our belt. I would like to get an opinion from you guys instead from other section of S2ki.
I am using my stock AP1 wheels for track and I also know that the stock SO2's have a 245 footprint.
I don't plan to run R compounds anytime in the near future, I like to keep my car stock from the streets to the track.
My question is:
I will plan to buy the Hankook RS2's 245/45/16 rears and 225/50/16's front. Many of us said having a wider front tires will cause the rear to oversteer more often, but if you have 205/55/16's this will help you understeer.
What are your experiences? MaxRev uses non staggered all around and just wanted to get more opinions from professional racers
Thanks!

Three of the local guys just got 225 F & 245 R Kooks with in one month of each other.
tpc0531 - all stock
p0pe - big front bar
ken orgeron - big front bar and aftermarket shocks
I have not had time for spirited driving on them. Tpc0531 did and Autocross on them.
I like the 225/245, but I have a diff setup.
I will post a link from the New Orleans forum asking for feedback to your thread.

Basically, if your car is stock and you decide to go with the 225/245 combo you will have uncontrolable oversteer. It's real simple. The only way to dial in a 225/245 combo is to add a front bar that is bigger than stock by a good bit.
Getting my tires installed on Saturday, along with an alignment. I'll report my results then.
Ken, what are alignment you running BTW?
right now at
-1.5 front -2.0 rear
0 front toe, max caster
1/4" toe in rear
Thinking about going with -1.75 front -2.25 rear camber, everything else the same. I feel like the car oversteers a bit too much and the rear wants to step out, especially in quick transitions.

I would stick with stock sizes. Those are optimum when everything is stock. I suggest getting the UK alignment as well. It will help the rear be more planted.
I also have Toyos in stock AP1 sizes with plenty tread if your interested.

Got my R-S2's on yesterday and they feel great. Almost as much grip as the Azenis . The sidewalls are a little softer, but not by much. I'm running 225f/245r with a saner bar on full stiff.

I just installed a Gendron bar at full stiff and it's the first time I have ever experienced understeer in this car.
Still doesn't understeer as much as my stock E46 M3 did though!
I have OEM AP2 tires now. I may go to a 225 front to try to recover a bit of that grip.
