Default Suspension geometry and lowering ride height

I have a set of Kw V3s and am going to the track quite a bit. The ride height dropped about 1/2" and I would like to drop it another 1/2" but I am concerned about the negative effects it will have on handling at the limit on a track.

Also if you have Kw V3s and can give advice for tracking the car I would appreciated it.

Would adding stronger sway bars help further.

I have searched a little for settup advice and if you can point me to more discussions I would appreciate it.

I live in Austin and go to Harris Hill, a technical track with lots of challenging corners.

just drive the car first and see what you want to change up next.

Generally speaking you want it around 3.75" from the Jack points to level ground. Play with rake from there.

Mine is probably lowered around 1.5-2" from stock on KWv3s. There is some bump steer, but the car is still plenty fast on track. The body control is still great. If youre lowering a total of only 1", you'll do just fine.

At Harris Hill, I would be much more concerned about available compression travel when the car is "lowered", rather than toe steer.

The track is so goddamn bumpy that lowering the car(any car, really) can have the unintended consequence of putting you all over the bumpstops throughout.... track out from T6, mid corner to exit of T8, all through T9, and the friendly lane-changing bump on the front "straight" before T1.

I would do the old zip-tie trick on your shock shafts to get an idea of how much bump travel you currently have. If there is 2.5"s to spare or more, you can try lowering the car a bit. But, at this point, you pretty much need a lap timer or dataq of some sort to get an objective review of the car's performance when making the change.

This man speaks the truth.

Harris Hill has proven to be a different monster than your 'typical' track. I have spent a couple of days helping a friend develop a set-up for his NSX (on street and R-Compounds), and a little time in my S2. We finally got the NSX really quick, but it was a little difficult, and had to make some big swings with some serious head scratching.

I have KW V3's and I have driven there a couple of times. My ride height is currently about 4" to the jack points. You will have to consider shock travel, rubbing, etc. because they WILL be an issue at Harris Hill. The standard shock settings that are posted on S2ki for the V3's didn't work that well, but my car/set-up is pretty far from a stock S2 so things will probably not just 'transfer' over.

HH is like riding a bucking bronco; PM me any questions and I will try to help if a can.

PS. I am still having some serious issues with this track (well I consider them serious, but I am pretty OCC).
