, finding 10" wide rims that will work is very difficult and exspensive. not to mention that you would have to prob run a large amount of negative camber, which would actually decrease your contact patch.
Many of us have run 10" CCW's with even wider tires. Rims aren't expensive; similar to other rims. No problem with tire patch.

I agree that 225/255 on the stock rims are more than adequate. Unless he's a very experienced track driver it's unlikely he'll out-drive these.

well i stand corrected.. just thought for an everyday car... finding a 10" wide rim without spending too much money (rim, tire, rolling fender) would be rather difficult....

well its kinda a tricky question... from what i understand if you wanted to run a 285 tire you would prob want a 10" wide rim... and givin the tricky offset of the car, finding 10" wide rims that will work is very difficult and exspensive. not to mention that you would have to prob run a large amount of negative camber, which would actually decrease your contact patch.

how come you want such large tires anyway? my suggestion would be to run 225 / 255 on your stock ap2 rims...
K you're right on 1 part. a 10" wheel is ideal for a 285, not required tho. Hell I was one of the firsts to run 275s on the stock AP1 wheel. Will a 245/285 work on the AP2 wheels? Probably with some minor rubbing. will it be faster? maybe.

Now to the rest of your miss-info.
Our car isn't that "tricky" in regards to wheels. It just needs lots of offset or backspacing.
There are lots of options in the $2k range for 9 to 10" wheels. CCW has 2 options, volk has some 9's that fit too. I wouldn't fret much about running a 285 on a 9" wheel.
An s2k adjusts camber from the bottom arm so the change at the top of the wheel is negligble in terms of gaining additional clearance for rubbing.
Negative camber does not decrease your contact patch in anything other than a straight line. Since we don't have lots of power, the slight reduction in contact patch when going straight doesn't matter, grip and contact in the corners does matter and that improves greatly with camber (I run -4 to -5 in front and -3 in back). You'll never get enuf camber from the stock a-arms for this to EVER be a problem. As a matter of fact if you care about handling and not about street wear run max camber.

so 245 front 285 rear will work?

Will it be significant increase in handling?
