Default Top up or down

Ok so I have thought about this but just want to know if there is any data to make this a good discussion.

I have done one autocross personally but have seen videos of other S2000's and almost all of the time that I have seen the tops down. My thinking behind this and pros and cons are

Pros-

Can hear the engine better.
Can hear the tires better.
More head room with helmet (big issue with me).
Its nice to get a tan (jp).

Cons-
More drag?

I have tried the search and unfortunately have not been able to find anything (damn search always pulls up irrelevant topics for me) so I apologize if this is a repeat.

... and the discussion begins now!

For race tracks, definitely more drag with the top down. It's been tested and proven in a high speed track in SoCal (Willow Springs International Raceway).

For autocrosses, I don't think the drag really plays a role. It would move the center of gravity a negligible amount lower and to the rear.

VitaRenovatio - if there's more drag with the top up, then why do you track with the top up?

i run top up mainly to keep the sun off of myself and my eyes.

Huh? I said there's more drag with the top down. More drag means lower top speed and also a less efficient wing.

it also can be pre-determined by the track org. a lot of orgs here require top down. if it really bothers you losing a tenth, then buy a hardtop.

Ok yeah I'm using it for autocross. Do you know where that data is? I'm in civil engineering here at purdue and in my fluids class we are discussing drag right now.
