Default Track Aero

I am trying to decide on a reasonably priced aero package for the track. I have narrowed it down to either APR front air dam and rear GTC 200 wing or the Honda CR front and rear spoilers. My understanding is that both are aero tested and effective. Aside from the price differences between the two set ups, which would be more beneficial?

This is unclear. Honda has made claims about their CR package reducing overall lift on the car, but it is unclear where these claims come from or how effective the package is at actually creating downforce. I've not seen any data on the APR front lip and only a theoretical CFD analysis on the GTC-200 wing, and that in a straight freestream instead of behind a car where it was designed to be. That's not to say either of these don't work, I'm sure they do, I just wouldn't call them "tested."

An important question is whether you are planning on competing with this car. If so, you may find yourself constrained more by the rules than the cost of effectiveness of the parts.

To simply answer your question though, I'm not sure about the front, but the GTC-200 should be a better wing than the CR wing in terms of downforce. It's bigger, mounts higher, and is adjustable.

Thanks for the responses. So far my mods are CE28s with stock suspension and track alignment and Mugen exhaust. For the tires, I plan to run either Nitto NT01s or Toyo R888s in 225/45-17s and 255/40-17s. I am having the rear roll bar and recaro pole positions installed in 2 weeks.

I don't plan on competing with this car at this point, just track days. My goal is just to get the most effective handling I can. The suspension will likely be changed in the future when my skill level gets to the point I can exploit it.

I would just go with the GTC wing. You won't need any front aero with it.

I'd invest in suspension before the wing. Using r-comps will be more taxing on the suspension than the benefit of adding a wing at this point.

I am testing the Password: JDM CF undertrays at Sears Point this friday. We consistently run low 1:46's there with traffic. I am hoping to dip into atleast the 1:45s...Steve from PWJDM has quite a bit of experience under his belt with composites.

Let's see how these pieces make the car go. I have feeling we will have to make adjustments in the wing and splitter to see the full benefits.

generally agreed though as I see the OP is from Vienna and I don't know the tracks he visits.

As an example, I visit Road America frequently and, on R comps, would get way more out of good aero than more suspension (unless I REALLY knew how to tune it. I have KW V3's now an would at RA gotten more with a wing than that suspension).
