Ricer

Why don't you try on of the Spugen's? They're pretty cheap and fairly light

He's the original JDM.

Spoon, Mugen, T1R, Speed and stickers?

I swear I saw a wishlist with blue Cusco front and rear sway bar, cusco front and rear tower bar, cusco 3 piece frame support brace, Cusco LSD...

Got Exhaust...

If you really want to design a muffler, you need to know what frequency range you are going after. Octave bands are better than nothing, but 1/3 octave bands would be preferred. You need to measure the source.

Then you have the problem of the variable speed of the motor. For a race car, this is not so much of a problem, because I assume you would only care about muffler performance at WOT near redline.

Or you could just do it by trial and error and the simple metric of overall A-weighted noise, but that's not really the most efficient way to do it.

Do you know where the db meter is going to be? I've been thinking about hacking off my stock exhaust to just behind the resonator and turning it out in front of the wheel to see how it would look and/or sound. How effective is the resonator to reduce db's with no muffler? Also does anybody know how much it weighs? Maybe you could put a turn down just after the resonator with a clamp that would allow you to rotate it away from wherever the meter is. This would be very inexpensive and could fit your needs. You could also swap in a muffler instead of the resonator and try to accomplish light weight by lack of material. I think directing the sound will be the best approach to solving your issue.

The meter is never in the same spot. Always ~100ft away from the track in some section of full throttle.

Laguna its drivers right between T5 & T6
Sears its drivers left at T12
Thunderhill is on drivers right at the exit of T15.
etc.

so I just need something that works from any side. I pm'd Pete to see if he could offer me some insight on his exhaust. I like the idea of just doing a turndown under the car, so long as he hasn't had problems with other stuff getting too hot.

Oh, I thought this was for a particular event. If you kept it under the car and clamped on the turndown you could cant it away as needed. Not sure if I'd trust a clamp to keep it secured for continual use though.

Pete had James Evans make it. you could call James and ask him to make another one. He had a fuel cell, which was higher than the gas tank, so he didn't have any heat issues.

You can also get it made in Aluminum. Turn it down just aft of the rear subframe. The turndown makes a HUGE difference and I suspect it would be quieter than a even a stock exhaust. It's just not nearly as JDM. My resonator back straight pipe in aluminum with a turn down weighed just over 2 lbs.
