Default Track Helmet

Hi everyone. I'm going to be tracking my car this summer and I have a full face helmet but was wondering if open face is allowed, say, at Willow?

I was hoping to pick this one up:

Thanks

The tracks themselves don't regulate it. It's the company that you are tracking with. But I don't know of any that regulate it anyway. With that said, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in an open face helmet in a convertible if I got in an accident and hit a wall, or even worse, flipped. Think about it.

Most so cal hpde groups only allow open face with a closed cockpit. Full face is the way to go

I don't remember when I read this but there was an advisory against using full face if you have airbags in your steering wheel because I punches your helmet up and back I think on impact. So I don't think they recommend full face unless you either don't have driver side airbags or have disabled it by removing the fuse for the SRS system.

the safety concerns about full face and open face helmets with use of airbags is an outdated issue.. FIA changes its rules all the time. the same rule book which stated open face/closed face helmets also stated that airbags should be removed out of the car.

these rules have been updated as a non issue. with further testing, they didnt deem it neccessary for it to be a concern. as long as your helmet is fitted properly, it shouldnt be an issue.

while on track always run at least a 4-pt roll bar, 6pt, bucket seat and of course your helmet. you shouldnt have an air bag installed with use of a harness.
