So then why are you trying to modify your car for the track?
I'm not thats something ill do later but i wanted to know what people run on their first time on the car because my brother ran buddy club n+ in his rsx but I thought i shouldn't have to buy coilovers because the s2000 handles perfect stock

I've been tracking the S2000 for over two years now, and I'm still on OEM suspension. IMO, no need to upgrade the suspension if the driver is still the weakest link in the chain.

Forget what those kids think. Join the S2K Challenge and prove it to the world.

I am too lazy to read all the posts in this thread and don't know how much track experience, if any, the OP has. So I give you my pearls of wisdom for track n00bs:

1. Bring a helmet.
2. Listen to your instructor.
3. Have fun.

That's it. If this is your first track day, I seriously recommend that you relax and ignore all the other advice you have been given.

+1

Seriously, if this is your FIRST track day ever. Take the car as is. You're going to be learning so much that day. Trying to go fast, will be secondary.

I would however, check your regular maintenance stuff, like tire tread, fluid levels (just make sure they're topped off), lug nut torques and fill it up with fuel.

You're going to have fun even if you run the slowest time of the day.....which you probably will.........I did.

Exactly.

I run 32 cold F & R. I seem to gain about 10psi in a 20 min session.
Woah.....

Start your tire pressures at 27 psi cold all the way around. Check them when you come off track, they should be in the 34-38 psi range. Just keep them even all the way around. Once you get good tires, you can try to set them to their optimum operating pressure, which varies by make.

Check your fluids, torque everything properly, check brakes and rotors.
Cold tire pressure just like Jim said, 28-32 cold 38 hot tops.

Then enjoy driving WAY over the speed limit without getting a ticket. Mods will come later when they'll make sense to you. For example and for those who knows, after some serious "floating" at turn 8 Big Willow, I decided to upgrade to a wing

My first time, Newb alert

Blue tape, top down, miles away from the Apex but having the time of my life...

[QUOTE=PedalFaster,Jan 9 2011, 02:39 PM] 40 cold is way too high for optimal traction.

Join the s2k challenge. Come with a stock car, you'd be running in novice class (and competing with other novices).

Learn to drive, set some times, and if those kids bashing your car ever grow a pair and come to the track, they'll realize why so many s2000s are tracked.

Just come out and have fun.
