looks sweet dave. i'll definitely have to come bug you and check those things out (and maybe even aggravate you enough for a ride ) at the pad next sunday.

did you give any thought to putting two of the hankooks on your rear jdm wheels and 2 on your usdm ap1 wheels? seems like the extra 1" of wheel for your non-staggered setup would benefit more than the slight weight loss from the jdm wheels.

I ordered Z214 C51 Compound (medium) for my track Miata in 225/45/15 but I won't be running on them for a few weeks, I'm curious to hear your results.

Come on by and take a look see or even a ride. I hope that I surprise some of the typical hot shoes there with these tires. I already know 2 are gunning for me as I have $1 bets with them.

As of shuffling my sets of wheels around and having the usdm AP1 7.5" up front, that would not be legal for stock. Man, having to have the 6.5's up front really sux! Good thought though!

If you run after me, I would like to to take an early ride with ya to see how those new street tires grip.

Cya Sunday!

Crap... the Cx1's are out now... Figures! I wonder how the new versions compare to the older ones.

I am doing my best to share how things are going with the Z214 C70's. In fact, I am on three forums (this one, sccaforums, and the local region's). Hopefully, all goes well with them.

I have to admit that I am not a national caliber driver (yet), and I'm expecting a rough 1st event or so as I'm not just changing the tire brand, but also the stiffness of the FSB, the lack of tire width/stager, plus having to figure out optimum tire pressure. I hope that in 2 or 3 more weeks, I'll have it all figured out and be ready for GASS' first divisional event on my home turf.

My dad and I autocross with the Z214 C70's. He ran them last year on his Sti and they worked great. Liked them so much that I got a set for my s2000. I am running them on the 13th so I will let you know how it goes.

Excellent! Post your sizes and how you like 'em.

What did you and your dad have on before the Z214 C70's? What kind of pressures were you running with the other set of tires and what did you end up with on the Z214's? What were the key selling points for you to choose these for your S?

Thanks,

-Dave

I learned that the C71's will likely become available once the C70's inventory is depleted.

Yesterday, I had my 1st event with the C70's and all my other changes to accommodate the wider 245's up front. I got 7 31-32 second runs on nearly a perfect day on unsealed asphalt (~mid 70's on a mostly sunny day.. but windy), so I believe I have a good start on how the car needs to be set up.

New configuration...
Z214 C70 245/45-16 all corners Tire Pressures: 37F/35R

Koni Yellows Rebound:
1 1/3 turns from full soft - Front
1 turn from full soft - Rear

Modified Saner Front Sway Bar - used modified stiffest hole

From my prior configuration...
V710 225F/265 Rear pressure: 33F/31R

Koni Yellow Rebound:
1 turn from full soft - Front and Rear

Modified Saner Front Sway Bar - full factory stiff

Comparing from my prior configuration, the car turn-in was great... much better than before. I had a nice controlled oversteer to the point where for the 1st time I felt confident to "slither" through slaloms and fast transitional turns. I'm going to see if I can change the rebound more where I can get on the gas earlier out of the turns without as much oversteer... but at least this is much better than the constant understeer I had before. I also had no evidence of any wheel lifting. I will know more once I review my MaxQData logs and video on how grippy the tires were, but it felt great.

More to come in the near future.

On the new setup, I think you meant 1 1/3 turns from full soft on the fronts? You have down rear and rear.

Also, did you modify the Saner bar yourself? If yes, how hard is it to do that?
I basically have the exact same setup as you. JDM BBS wheels, Koni OTS yellow's, Saner bar, V710's but thinking of switching to the Hankook tires when my 710's cord.
