Next track day is in about a month's time. Not a very technical track but apparently hard on the brakes. I'll give some feedback as I go along

CR wing is def better than nothing but not as effective as a proper GT wing that's for sure.

As for a list of wheels, there's the original Essex BBk thread floating about with some suggestions?

+49 is FF face. It clears the massive J's racing BBK. Why wouldn't it clear this one?

If it doesn't then that sucks. Was looking at this for next mod. Guess not.

Simple. This AP Racing kit is using a near stock size rotor. This places the caliper closer to the hub of the wheel compared to other BBK kits which are much larger in diameter and further out.

Take a look at this Stoptech kit compared to the Essex kit. Dark gray is the AP Racing kit, vs the yellow highlight the Stoptech

99SH, you have tracked the kit the longest, how are they holding up now?

Brakes are running strong and long. The pad life is amazing, I really like the thicker pads these calipers have to offer. My latest combination is DSUNO front and DS3000 rear and feel the car is very well balanced. The initial bite is very smooth and stays consistent throughout the day.

For the guy above wanting to run on 17x9+49 wheels, I recommend getting spacers. You have a longs way to go before you contact the fender. This kit is much deserved! I'm running +15mm spacers on my front track wheels to make it work.

The heat-spotting issue the original poster noted may be due to uneven pad deposits when switching between street & track pads. What I do is run Hawk blue pads to clean up the rotor. It only takes a couple miles and a few mild stops to clean up the rotor surface to a nice raw aluminum shine. The Hawk blues are a very abrasive pad when cold and scuff up the rotors very effectively. I do this prior to all my trackdays and always lay down a nice clean pad layer when running the track pads.

My next task is improving the time it takes to swap pads. I recently bought the Girodisc brake pad spreader which makes the job much easier. I need to get this down to nascar pit speeds

I did get uneven pad deposits and slight smearing of the old transfer layer when I switched from the DS2500 to DSUNOs. Ever since I've been cleaning with the Hawk blues, it's been nice and smooth. I don't know if the compound difference is enough, but it's good insurance I'd like to take.

this might be a less expensive alternative to a caliper piston spreader ...

i am saving to get the essex kit as well, but i am also currently using stock wheels and am on a budget, so would need to buy wheels as well :/ . more heatsink !! always thought honda went a bit light overall on braking systems.

The AP Caliper have 4 pistons. Those spreaders won't work too well. Need to compress both pairs at the same time; otherwise one piston will stick out while you're compressing the other one.
