Default using new pads on used rotors

my rotors are in pretty good shape imo so i was wondering how i can take off the transfer film from the old OE pads so my new pads can bed in properly. ive read that you can use very fine grit sand paper or scotch brite along with brake cleaner. so i just purchased a big green scotch brite scouring pad (the stuff on the back of dishwashing sponges) i was wondering if anyone has any experience doing such a thing so i dont screw up.

i know if i was running race pads it would prob do the job itself but i dont think the ds2500/axxis ult are aggressive enough.

I just follow the normal pad break-in and then run a few hot laps and the problem usually takes care of itself. YMMV.

In order to prevent contamination between pad compounds (unless you are SURE there are no known issues between the compounds you are switching from/to), always scrub the rotors with Scotch-Brite by hand (with plenty of elbow grease) or use a Flex-Hone on an air tool. This will remove the pad transfer layer without getting into the iron. Sandpaper is too aggressive for this job.

Once the old transfer layer is removed, follow the bedding procedure that the new pad manufacturer supplied with the pads.

Should I be worried about this if I am changing my Brake pads to ap1 pads? I have an ap2 and going to change brake pads this weekend. already bought the ap1 pads.
