Default Vibration with slotted rotors

Hi,

Previously I have always tracked my car with OEM replacement rotors, but last winter I decided to try Powerslot front rotors because I found them on sale at 50% off.

Well, I ran them for the first time a few weeks ago (2

Slotted rotors will have some feedback through the pedal due to the slots. Hard to describe exactly, but it would be a vibration that varies with speed.

I know mine never did that, and the rotors got pretty hot (they blued). They were not powerslot, just some no-name brand. Basically OEM rotors that some compay slots.

Did you try applying the brakes lightly for some time to see if you can scrape off any deposits that you may have put on them?

Someone recently posted a great article on what are the fundamental causes of brake pulsation...that it has to do more with pad build up than warpage....but none-the-less, the only feasible way to solve the problem involves turning rotors....

I've used steel wool to help lessen the effect, but new rotors and/or turnage (and proper break-in) seem to be the best solutions.

...well, I did two more 20 minute sessions and the ____ers still vibrate.

It could very well be a break-in problem.

I mounted used (mature?) pads with the new rotors (I did 'level' the pads before by putting sandpaper on a level surface and rotating the pads on it) and though I brought both to operating temperature and left them cool down for 24hrs, the mating of the surfaces may not have been enough and the rotors look spotted.....

WTFKs?

maybe it's your old pads and the build up in them that's messing it up...

try new ones?
