What are the current roll bar/hardtop requirements for our cars at VIR?
aftermarket rollbar that probably meets the stick test from the rollbar to the windshield frame.

I Just got back today. Fantastic!

As the only S2000 there I represented the marque well, a few other drivers were scratching their heads and coming by to see what the little yellow car was all about, and never was passed when under power. (Ok I spun once )

On Friday I ran solo the last 2 runs and was able to get some clean laps in, my best was a 2:23 with several 2:24s, I had some under-steer in turn one, never got the 4, 5 and 5a down. Also I realized to late I could brake much later on the back straight.

I can't wait to go back.

I got to watch you run on Friday both at Oak tree for one session (up through 10 and down to just before the roller coaster) and also looking up at the roller coaster and down through hog pen in another session.

The S2000 looked and sounded great - and yeah, you were picking folks off all the time.

I personally loved coming out of 10 and also from the Roller coaster through Hog pen.

I didn't know which BMW you were driving I would have said

I finally was able to nail the Oak tree turn, drop to 2nd in the short chute after 11, then turn in and nail it.

sounds like you did pretty well. I was only on the big course that one weekend and drove like a sissy for what my car should have done.

I think I had a 2:22 with stock gears and some used michelin cup tires.... the honda challenge guys are down to about 2:12 (yellowstreak's best time at the 3 hour enduro) now.

With 2:23-2:24 sounds like you were driving pretty well for your car!

Not too many races are on the full course so I doubt i will be able to run there until at least next spring to see what my car does in it's current condition.

Yeah, I was the Yellow M3 in D group off by myself by the Sunoco. Only got 3 laps in on Thursday due to a number of issues. Managed to have a nice day on Friday never having to give a wave by and doing well with our very slow group - hey it's D group .

I had 5 different instructors in 5 sessions (including the 3 lapper), and pretty different lines throughout which made things kind of difficult, but in the last session on Friday, i finally got oak and it was sweet.

I caught the bad side of the lack of instuctors and was the guy left sitting in pit lane every D session when the call would go out for someone to please come and run with the yellow BMW. I lost quite a few laps. Still, can't wait to go back - even the ride down from Arlington ain't bad. Either Octoberish if $$ allow, or whatever the next Full course next year.

Summit Point this weekend...

My car was working very well once I balanced the tires out, I didn't even have the BAW mounted.

On my fastest laps I would carry 5th gear into the climbing S's at over 120 at the first turn and hold steady throttle until touching the brakes for 10. I think thats were I made the best time.

The downhill stuff I was not as comfortable with, I am sure there is lots of time to be found there.

VIR wasa blast.

I liked T10 and T16-T17A, the downhill sections suited my wifes WRX (which I had to drive since my S2000 does not have an external rollbar). I could not properly hit T4 which always dropped my corner speed through T5. Was running low/mid 2:30s during the second day. The Ss up to T10 was basically full throttle and T10 only required a little speed check before turn in afterwhich I nailed the throttle through the turn till braking for T11.

I had a a great instructor who races aout there so we really worked on a few key corners for most of the time (as well as getting used to the transition from my normal S2000 with r compounds to a WRX 4EAT with street tires, plows like a pig driving a tractor).

The cheapo Hankook RS2s were predictable, noise and wore like iron. Decent grip for a street tire (about on par with a T1-S or S03). After 2 autoX and 4 days at VIR they look like new just wore down a little.

Nice track, I need a bar for my car.

gfactor,

When they look at my little Honda and wonder why it is so fast I tell them it's because I run the 94 Octane.

I was in the 2:2?'s also. Unfortunately I don't know the exact time because my instructor, who wasn't supposed to time me, obliged when I asked him but didn't want to get specific. I asked him about his Porsche and he was around 2:10.

Mid Atlantic NASA will be there July 29-31 and I will also but we are just running the north course.

I am signed up for the Car Guys event on the Full course August 12-13-14 if you can make that.

John
