I tried some of the 100 octane, only 6.50 a gallon.

3 days with Car Guys? Hmm? I may have to look into that. Brake pads are starting to get expensive.

try racing........ the freaking tires ($900 a set mounted- gone in 3 events)), brakes pads ($140 for the fronts which are gone after less than 2 events), gas (2 full tanks @ 2.50 per gallon), etc... for one weekend is about $500.... and i am only on the track for about 2 hours per weekend....

Throw in the $250 for track charge..... some travel $..... = the cost of an NSX or porsche Carerra.....

Just be thankful your wife does not compete/drive. Mine is doing 25 autoX and at least 4 track events this summer plus after VIR she is starting to think about a "new more trackable car". Oh, yea, did I mention that she only drives (I get to do all the wrenching) Take your cost and multiply by 2. Eh, I guess it is pretty cool to have a wife that is into cars but if I took what i have spent on her car/parts/mods/tires/alignments/registration fees etc I could probably be driving around in an M3 or something like that (or even better I could have a dedicated track car and trailer/tow vehicle).

sure, i feel for you...

my pads are $199 per axle, new front rotors were $900 a piece, tires are $1100 a set (last longer cuz i go slower in turns, my offs cost more than yours too), use premium gas, so a little cheaper, but my tank is 25 gallons and can use it all plus more depending on the track.

and i do not even get a little trophy, points or Rookie of the Year plaque...

need to suck it up and get a race car, but i think i set my sights different than using a modified street car. would love to get an open wheel formula car. FV and F5000 look to strange and can go deaf with the 2cycle whining. FSCCA chassis would be cool, but looks like it costs around 40k. there was a Formula Atlantic tooling around at the SCCA event at SP last weekend, qualified 1st in class with a 1:14.875, now THAT's a race car.... way out of budget, do not want to sell the 360 just to race for real.
