Default Weld in Roll bar or bolt it in?

I notice most guys bolt in their Hard Dog or Rockstar roll bar, but wouldn't a welded one be better?

depends on your needs/goals. unless you plan on making this a career race car, bolting it in is probably just fine. once its welded removing it would be a major pita.

Welding it in place is a pain in the butt too. You have to remove all the sealant and paint completely for weld prep and you'd end up with it welded to mostly thin sheet metal. The 4 backing plates and 16 bolts work very well in anchoring a roll bar in the S2000. It's very easy to remove a Hard Dog bar if you simply leave the forward backing plates in place (makes re-installation easy). Hard Dog will sell you a new set of forward backing plates.

I've never heard of anyone using a Hard Dog type roll bar as a base for a full roll cage. We unbolt them and sell them for almost what we paid for them and have the cage built from scratch.

welded mine in - was very simple and easy and also did not involve cutting up the underbody of the car.

I have a spare set of backing plates if anyone wants.
