Skip, That sounds like pitted inner CV joints to me.
You can't swap halfshafts side to side because they are different lengths. You can, however, swap the inner CV side to side to cure the acceleration vibration problem. It's a little more involved, but if you can pull out a halfshaft, you can pull apart a CV joint.
This fixes the problem for quite a while because you are reversing the drive and coast sides of the CV joint. Once upon a time there was a thread with really good pics of the inside of the joint and the pitted or brinelled surface that caused the vibration. Too bad about the search function.

I swapped inner cv 'cups' right-to-left last spring, as I was just starting to get a vibration on the highway. It fixed that problem right up. 
Motor mounts. My car has 95,000 miles on it and I broke both of them at a Evo School a couple of months ago so they are something that should be changed if your car has higher miles just for a precaution. I sam a pic somwhere on here where a guy ripped the mount out of the block, that wasn't good.
