Default What lug nuts are people using?

Hey guys,

I couldn't find any threads (no pun intended) on what lugs people are running with aftermarket wheels - so I was wondering, what are you guys using? Since they are such a critical safety item, I would want to hear people's opinions on what ones are good and are bad.

How are Blox? How are Muteki?

Honestly, lugs shouldn't ever fail. I've gone through a few different sets and never had a problem with any of them.

If you get the really light ones, they recommend against impacting them at all.

any lug nut should work. I myself wanted to be a baller when I got my wheels so I have Rays valve stems and Rays Extended Lugs. I ordered red ones but over time they faded pink. Not being a fan of the pink ones I ordered another set of blue ones. After riding in a Carrara GT I noticed they have blue on one side and red on the other so I copied the look on my car.

After two years of use they look beat up and not as nice as when I first got them for sure. Not worth the extra money unless you never drive the car and plan to never take the wheels off.

I'm going to pick up a set of 949 racing lugs whenever I buy my next set of wheels. They are very light, and from what I've seen durable as well, but not sure how they would do with an impact. Also they're only like $75 and look really nice

^I'm a huge fan of the 949 lugs. Very cheap compared to others that weigh the same thing and I've used an impact on them multiple times without issues (other than the fact that my black ones are now half silver from the coating coming off. Plus you don't have to buy them in sets of 4 or 5. Last time I order 22 nuts and they had no problem with that which was nice.

I got slammed for switching from 949 lugs to these because they are aluminum. The 949s are to and these are 7075 aluminum. I paid liie 50 bucks for the set. Granted one wasnt machined so i tapped it. Anyway going on six months and several autoxes with no issues and they hold their torque perfectly.

i started running some extended muteki lugs that i got from ebay for maybe $50 shipped. they work great. i like extended nuts because hand-screwing is much easier.

I run generic anodized aluminum lug nuts with no problems in 4 years of use. I even use my impact wrench to remove and install them to about 70lb-ft then finish with a torque wrench. I've never cross threaded or stripped one.
