Default What Next?

I am completely hooked on the track, to the point I may need an intervention.

I understand the #1 thing that I need to improve to go faster is the driver and am working on that by getting out to as many HPDEs as possible. With that said, I am also always looking at how I can make the car faster. I'm going to list my mods that pertain to the track and would like some feedback as to some things you would add in addition to what I already have if you were trying to go faster. I am not looking at FI or any internal engine work, so I don't think there is much in the engine department that I would consider. I have a better set of brake pads ordered which is one of the things that I believe to be a weak link currently on the car as I am running the Project Mu B-Force Street/Track pads. Stepping up to a set of their brand new Club Racer pads which are similar to the 999.

PS. Please don't move this to the Modifications Forum...I am specifically modding for Racing & Competition and don't want to hear about what type of speakers I should add. I'd rather it be deleted if that's the case.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Here are some ideas I have in mind:
Custom front splitter set-up done by Evasive
Taller Wing Risers
Better Tires (What Kind?)
Lighter Weight? (Not sure if I want to do a CF trunk or other items)
Roll Center Adjusters
Anti-Bumpsteer Kit

Mugen Hardtop
Stock CR front
J's Racing Towhook
Flared Fenders to fit wheels
J's Racing V1 Rear Wing

Interior

Schroth Clubman 6-Point Harnesses (Black)

Footwork
KW Variant 3 Coilovers
KW Custom Spec'd Springs for non-staggered set-up
Custom Alignment done with non-staggered recommended specs

Project Mu Front Big Brake Kit w/ B-Force Pads
Project 88 Rear Slotted Rotors
Rear Stoptech Brake Lines
Rear Project Mu B-Force Brake Pads

Volk Racing CE28n - 17x9.5 +47 Non-Staggered
Dunlop Star Spec Tires - 255/40/17 Non-Staggered

You don't need a rear BSK Ryan but I would recommend going after the diff with gearing and an LSD =D

Great idea...I forgot about that and intended to put that as an idea. What would one recommend for a CR, the 4.57s? What about an LSD?

I really am not sure that I'll be competing with any organizations, but would like to keep it within the rules of the Street Class for Redline events so that if I get fast enough, I can compete. I just ran my third track event this past weekend and improved dramatically over last time. I ran a 2:43.9 on the 3.1 Spring Mountain course which is approximately 2.5 seconds off of StinkyTofu's time that he placed third with at the Redline event on the same configuration. Granted the temps were cooler and therefore better, I feel that I'm not too far off car-wise to be competitive in some events for Street class.

1. Better tires
2. Make car lighter
...
20. Other stuff on your list

Tires are more important than anything else to help you go faster. Next, and also the easiest and cheapest thing (at this stage) is to lose weight. Take out whatever you can safely and comfortably live without. I really would not worry about anything else on your list at this point.

I have been considering Flashpro, but to be honest, am a little scared of tuning. Simply because I have had bad experiences in my STi and have seen some poorly tuned S2000s blow up. I just worry about whether the risk is worth the reward. Maybe it is...I don't know, but I'm open to considering it.

My car is a CR, so I don't know that I can remove much, if anything else to lose weight besides things I don't want to (door speakers, CD player and AC). I like the AC for driving to the track in Vegas and the radio to listen to when getting ready to go on track. Other than that, all my interior from the seats back is removed.

Your car is very nicely upgraded, one of my favorite. I think before investing more money on upgrading the car, the best would be to fine tuned the car via: wing angle/tire pressure/ride height/ alignment/ suspension setting.

You should attend more southern cali event, it's a bit of a drive, but the guys here are extremely friendly in sharing tips on making your car go faster.

I would 100% agree with you on that too, that there is probably much to be desired in some of those categories. I really havent played with the tire pressure and need to invest some time in figuring out how to play with it to find the best pressures. The wing is from Daryl who tracks his car in SoCal and hasn't been touched since I got it off his car. It possibly could be made to have a better angle, although I'm not getting twitchy at high speeds. The suspension and alignment settings were all given to me by Squirtle as he was the one who tested the spring set-up previous to me owning it. Ride height wise I could probably use some improvements.

Either way, I think you're right that there is time that can be made up with doing some of these adjustments.

I plan to start making it out to the SoCal tracks more often. Just dont know when that first event for me out there will be.

You could get wider wheels and tires if you're already flared.
