Default What tires

What is preferred track day tire? Or better yet what are top 3 R compound tires?
I started with Ventus 12 which are ok but not enough grip for my taste. Switched to NT01 which are on the car now. Did couple days on them and like them so far. I think I will get another day out of it and than time for new tires. I want to try all available, one by one. So, what would be next tire?

The A6 is the preferred time trial tire. Seems like most S2000 track records were set on them.

A couple of us So Cal guys have tried the Hankook TD's. They are soft, really soft. I read on their site that they don't recommend usage over 30 Celsius or 86F. So with summer coming up they are probably not a realistic choice.

Maxxis keeps threatening us with their new R Comp that could be an NT01 fighter. But they haven't released it yet.

I'm kind of in the same boat and I'd like to try something new that will grip and last during the summer months.

Maybe the BFG R1?

Yea, socal can be brutal (willows and chukavala). T-hill in summer is not much better either
Sears and Laguna are fine, ocean keeps it normal.

Some SCCA club racers use A6s in cooler weather on lighter cars. I'm planning on running E-production on them this year.

On A6 what size would work, my nitto are 255/40/17. I need 245/40 in A6? Seems 255/45 is bigger and may rub.
My wheels are 17x9/63

BFG R1 has been very good. Wear is very good, they have two updated compounds and the old is being closed out, but still pricey compared to street tires.
