Do a couple of seasons of time attack to see how far I can push while keeping a relatively stock engine with bolt ons while developing my driving. Hope I can do the car justice...

I've been watching reruns of British Touring Car Championships and the safety of a lightish FWD racer can't be argued watching the EBay motors BMWs constantly in the wall... maybe I'll continue club racing with the Civic SI after all...

I hear that!
Front wheel drive saved me a few times in US touring car this past year... Watching those pesky hondas just nudge the bmws turning them around and into total chaos time and time again makes me love the front wheel drive for the track

I really don't want to get a CR to replace it for the weight savings but the thought is nagging. Don't think I'll do it though, and definitely not soon.

2) Put a roll bar in my beater NB miata and do one or two track days this year with that
Forget about the weight. Guys car weighed 2785 at nationals. Even sporting a. Stock battery!

Not to mention the advantage in rain. For medium hp racing, FWD isn't bad at all.

So WRX for Winter and autocross
Turbo AP1 for DE and TT
CR for summer daily driving until stock classes migrate to street tires
Civic for ice and club racing

My plan:

2006 AP - currently DD and HPDE-S2K Challenge time attack vehicle.

-Sometime this year (early next at the latest), I should be able to pick up an 89-91 E30 coupe for a DD.
-The S will then become a track dedicated vehicle while still maintaining registration and minimal streetability (I still want to be able to drive to and from events - I have a truck, but I don't want to invest in a trailer nor do I want to trailer to/from events... yet)
-For now, improve my driving skills, "compete" in S2K challenge for as long as it lasts
-Have fun at the track
-re-evaluate when I think I'm a more competent driver and start looking at what SCCA and NASA have to offer
-maybe even do some of the other big time attack venues like GTA/SLB/RTA

-Motor... this is something i've been thinking about. I know that eventually I'll blow my motor. I'm hoping that happens much later rather than sooner. I'm thinking I want to do something along the lines of K-series swap (then I can blow a motor every 3 years and not feel too bad) or do that one build where you shorten stroke by quite a bit (decreasing displacement) and up RPMs a whole lot. I wouldn't mind shortening stroke to the point of a 1.8L (F22C starting point) and getting 12K+ rpms with 260-280WHP.

-no plans to get rid of the S2K or change platforms (not in the near or distant future)

-this is all contingent on that whole real-life/career-job thingy continuing to pan out the way it has been (luckily). So long as this plan doesn't take a detour, the fun shall continue.

looks like since SCCA got rid of STO race class, i will now be in the new T1 class,( which we will have 2 vipers and one vette here locally) so i will build the car to the SCCA T1 rules. then add about 150lbs to the car and i will be in ST2 with NASA.

This is always something I feel like I am thinking about. Right now I only have a handful of track days under my belt. But I do not know exactly what I want to do in the future and I go back and forth about my ideas.

2006 AP2 - currently DD and AutoX car -

- need to decide soon if I'm saving for a DD b/c I want to start doing track days with the S2K
- this year, switching from STR to BSP but staying light on the mods. Only moving to BSP for 1.) more comfort with a aftermarket steering wheel and 2.) reliability mods like oil cooler and bigger radiator. I'm not really concerned about being super competitive with AutoX b/c I'd rather throw in some HPDE events rather than traveling for Solo Tour events but I think I can grab a co-drive for that if I wanted. I know I can just compare times and not PAX numbers locally to see how well I'm doing. I'm thinking hard about 10wide wheels as well.

Purchased new rotors and XP10/XP8s for first track day with the S2K soon.
Momo steering wheel to go on soon if I ever get my WB hub in.
Mishimoto Radiator chillin in the garage awaiting my lazy arse to get started and buy some Evans NPG+ coolant
Need to get a wing

Part of me is saying that since I still have a loan on my S2k, that I should just take my parts off, sell it, get a BRZ. Other side of me says, keep the S2k, save, get a reliable DD. roll bar the S2k and keep on keepin on. That later is more likely.

beat the top Street car's lap times in S2KC without using aero or coilovers. I can podium in the class in a lot of the events, just not enough to take a win.
