Default Where to buy a rollcage?

If someone was looking for a 6 point rollcage (with 1 door bar per side) where would they find one for the S2000. Has to be NASA (which I assume is similar to SCCA) approved. Is it possible to still have the softtop be able to work and not have my helmet stick through the rollcage or would the softtop absolutely have to go?

thanks

Scot

Unless you plan on doing wheel to wheel racing, you don't need a roll cage. NASA will let you run with stock roll hoops at HPDE events. The caveat is that the track may require a roll bar (i.e. VIR). I believe the SCCA requires a roll bar for their events.

I am just trying to find out where to get one if they are available..... or start to talk to the custom made guys.... More than likely if someone would flip the car the windshield would smash so you are pretty much going to get your head smoshed... (assuming your seatbelt keeps you sort of in place....so....... I thought i would start looking....

#1- Check with King Motorsports, they are a sponsor here, they sell the Mugen cage and have pics of it on their web site.

#2- I see you are in PA, so VT is not too far away. Contact Charlie North (ffmd@vermontel.net) - be sure to tell him Douglas Hood sent you! Charlie is a custom cage builder, his workmanship is first rate and he really knows what he is doing. Charlie did my custom Triple-H Rollbar (I did not want a full cage) this summer. There are details in the Upstate Forum - Just look for thread called Triple-H Rollbar...

Yep, that's a Lime Rock rule.

Since no one has posted about a place who already made one that would be scca legal I'll assume the few people have them got them custom made..... i was hoping that one of those people would post the specs so I wouldn't have to pay someone to do all of the measuring.

Anyone???

I think it depends on how far you want to go. If you want to use SCCA specs, contact King Motorsports (a sponsor here). They have an S that they rent out for T2 class racing and they had to get a special dispensation to allow the driver's door to be gutted for the side bar(s). They'd be much more familiar with specs and possibilities than most of us...

Starting next year (2003) NASA-VA will require all open-top vehicles to have some sort of aftermarket roll-over protection for their driving schools.

The problem as I understand it about the SCCA rules is the 2" above your helmet broomstick rule. As far as I can tell you would need to be extremely short to pass this 2" and still be able to put the soft-top up.

Like jguerdat and I said- check out King Motorsports for the Mugen cage, that is premade, but may not be SCCA legal.
