Why heel-toe?

You could teach her how and she would understand the joy of it . . . . but that would mean letting her drive.

I was just being a d*ck. My GF drives mine as well, a bit too well in fact. All that gocart time she had as a kid in NC has given her exceptionally good car control skills and I don't trust many people behind the wheel.
my puppy digs that too, as soon as she heard that, she will get all excited cuz "Daddy's home!!!"
well, because of the shorten time needed to "drag" or disengaging the clutch, it show minimize wear on Clutch, Syncro and the throw out bearing.
+ the enjoyment of doing it right, and chicks.....
I guessed the only reason of not doing heel and toe when downshift, is you are incapable of doing that, nothing wrong... cuz if you have enough money, you don't worry about stuff breaks, Chicks dig you regardless..... My friend said, "if money can solve the problem, then that's not a problem"

I always thought the whole purpose of heel and toe was so u can maximize acceleration out of corners and save time by allowing u to brake and downshift at the same time. What you should do is brake (as straight as possible) with your foot (ideally big toe) while pivoting and blipping the throttle with your heel as you downshift to the optimal gear so that when you accelerate out, you can maximize exit speed. It also puts less stress on tranny.

Heel toe is for super-late breaking with high corner entry speed. You're going so fast at the top of fourth, the only way to slow down in time is to slam on the breaks, clutch and while on the breaks with your toe use the the palm or heel of your foot to bump the accelerator and watch for ninety while revving the engine, drop to third still breaking with your toe, wathch for 65,clutch and rev and drop to second, let of the brake and keep 8500 rpm around a ninety degree, slam into third and you're shaving off mad time! My 2 cents. BMI textbook. No getting squirrely or sliding, just balanced breaking and entering. (Sounds like karma's justification for burglary)
heel - toe is for braking before entering a corner, while at the same time blipping the engine so you don't upset the balance of the car when you let the clutch out, downshifting to be in the correct gear to exit the corner. It can be done at all speeds. At the tracks that I drive I have used it downshifting from 5 to 4, 5 to 3, 4 to 3 and 3 to 2.
Couple people mentioned braking with big toe. Proper way is to brake with the ball of foot for control, even if it makes getting your heel over to the throttle less easy. Makes a difference when you are threshold braking from high speed and trail braking... don't want your foot slipping off the pedal (and you can't move your foot once you initiate braking).
