I wasn't implying anything like that. Just that its inevitable. So many small things can snowball into a total'd race car.

I sure hope it doesn't happen every year, or every other year even. But.....

There are two kinds of racers. Those that have crashed and those that will.
So which kind are you?

In the middle still. Lost a wheel once but haven't "crashed" yet. *knock on wood*

in scca and nasa bumping is discouraged strongly in so cal. Although we are allowed bump drafting in sm, any other contact has to be written up. Ive only had one wreck in my sm, some honda drove up the side of me and took me outta the lead and race at cal speedway. and my bro has rolled 2 miatas in 3 years, and 3 wrecks. so i think luck is a big factor when looking at wrecks.

You've just noticed the fundamental difference between racing in California and in the Northwest. Contact is quite common in the local wheel-to-wheel conferences. I've heard of two events in the past year that less than 50% of the starting field failed to complete the race. Some of the more aggressive classes pay into some sort of 'crash pot' before each race because the corner workers are so likely to get a workout.

Can you guess why I bought two Miatas with the hope of completing one season?
Conference isn't THAT bad, Jerry. It's not demo derby. But there is no 13/13 type rule either.

I have raced for three seasons and I have only been hit once and it was by a HC CRX like the one in the video. I was leading my SE-R group and wham he wacks me from behind spins me around and we collide again. Luckily the damage was minor, but I lost my race because of that behavior. He was not even leading his race group.

I do not know why Honda challenge guys in SoCal tend to be so aggressive. It is really over the top. I do not get it at all. So what did this guy get from wrecking his car? Was it worth it? In order to finish first you have to first finish is the old adage. And I cannot believe that he was upset. All that crazy driving and he was upset that he wrecked. Some racers just do not get it.

I see no point in this type of driving in amateur racing. I have almost 2800 miles of track time this year on my car and most of it door-to-door racing and I have not hit another car or been hit by another car. I have won countless races. I took second place in TCRA touring class championship and 1st place in SE-R Cup Xtreme championship. You must be careful or you are going to end up killing yourself and killing others.

There are only two drivers in SoCal HC that have consistently been involved in incidents. One in H4 (a CRX) and one in H1. Anyone who has raced in Honda Challenge knows who they are and knows to avoid them (ol Sphinkie definitely knows the H4 guy, don't you?).

In general, most of the Honda Challenge competitors are clean and fair, even when they have to negotiate their way through much slower SM, SE-R cup and 944 Cup competitors. Its a big problem that I'm surprised NASA hasn't addressed. When you're running 8-10 sec/lap faster at times, closing speeds make things hairy

UL - we were racing with the 924/944 cup guys.... at VIR i was 30 seconds a lap faster than the slowest 924......... we only made it 3 races before the H1 guys were moved to Big Bore which pisses off all the mustangs / camaro's who get beat (some get lapped) by "Commies" (as they call us).

Even with people being 30 seconds a lap slower I never hit anyone. that video show a lot of contact, but i guess that was just one knucklehead trying to ruin it for everyone else..........

I like clean racing... a little bumping is okay, but not when people get spun out or taken completely out of a race.....
