Anything that is wrapped in yellow loom and has a yellow connector should have blue wires. All of these wires/connectors are SRS related.

My co-driver and I did this without taking the harness out of the car a little over a year ago. We started at every unplugged connector, snipped the connector off and traced each wire back, snipping it as we encountered connectors along the way. It was a royal pain, but it saved over 12 pounds. I was shocked at how much wire came out.

I built my SCCA EP road race car and stripped all of the unneeded wiring out of the car, including the underhood fuse box. Yes, the ELD is gone.

I did this with the wiring harness in the car so that I could trace everything to where it goes. I clipped unused wires at the connectors, but also opened up some connectors and removed the pins on some (looks cleaner). I bought and used an S2000 Electrical Wiring Troubleshooting Service Shop Manual. This was very helpful and suggest that anyone digging into the wiring harness use one.

So we can save about 12 lbs by removing wires not being used? Has anyone listed wires not needed? Or a DIY- how to thread?
Thanks In Advance...

Done with wiring yesterday. Few things to consider:

1- Don’t attempt to do this without obtaining a copy of the S2000 electric guide, it’s hard to understand the guide at first but after few tries it made sense
2- Its a time consuming process, took me over 2 weeks of work.
3- Double check the work before removing any wires and when you double check triple check. If you happen to cut the wrong wire you most likely be in trouble
4- I attacked this project by removing 5 wires then turning the car on. Made sure it at least can turn on and the gauge cluster is functional.
5- Over 10 pound of wirings was removed. I am surprised how much wiring this little car has

Here is a picture of the work, I will post more later

The reason I even got the s in the first place is I tried this on my 944 and ended up scrapping the car after going through 3 harnesses.

I will never attempt wiring again

Good luck.

Whole new loom from scratch, it's easier!
