I'd recommend some track-worthy pads. If you want to be able to run them on the street as well, I'd go Carbotech XP8's or Hawk HP+ (NOT HPS!!!).

It is possible that NEW stock pads *might* be OK if your driving doesn't evolve enough in a single day to really utilize the brakes AND you aren't OVERusing the brakes.

But in any case, I strongly recommend against going on 1/2-worn stock pads.

Stay away from the Hawk HP+. Definitely spend your money on some CarboTechs or some other equivalent pad...there is plenty to chose from but CT really is the best pad to work with if this is your first time. Get a whole set (F&R) and talk to Emilio @ 949Racing (the R&C sponsor). He'll get you moving in the right direction.

It should also be noted that 1/2 stock pads may not be the best idea. Plus you'll more than likely burn through them and end up having to buy new pads anyways. If you buy the track pads...then swap before and after the event you'll actually save money in the long run.

only problem is, is that im on a budget..
i was thinking that i would buy a whole new set of OEMs and run with the 1/2 pads i have now then swap em when i need to. i could swap to DOT4 while im at it too.

If it's your first time at the track, you may be fine with them. Or you may not be. It depends on you, the track, the format of the event, etc.

You don't wanna have to be changing pads and fluid at the track on your first track day!

Do it a minimum of two days prior!

Fresh DOT4 is necessary! Valvoline synthetic has always worked fine for me.

The BARE MINIMUM you should do is fresh DOT4 and NEW stock pads BEFORE going to the track.

???
I ran two weekends back to back on stock and then HP+'s Not my first choice for track pads either btw, I had planned to take my 240Z (XP10's) for both events. The HP+'s are definitely MUCH better than stock. Not as good as XP8's though.

I would ask others who have been to that track and find out how hard the track is on brake pads. But even if it's easy on pads, I would get a new set, even if Honda OEM (not sure about Autozone, etc), and take it as back up along with tools to change them. Like mikegarrison said, part of it depends on you.

I think a lot of it depends on the track what track is it maybe someone knows how hard it is on the brakes

you don't have to be a monster on the brakes especially your first time so you'll probably be ok
