i need a helmet, need advice on what brand and where to buy. thanks for help!

If you are going to autocross, the GMax works well, is Snell, and cheap.

Whatever you buy, make sure that it is snug, but comfortable to wear. Weight isn't as important in autocross as in road racing because the runs are so short, so you can get away with less expensive helmets. It IS important that it is Snell approved. Snell M is OK for autocross, but you may need Snell SA if you want to drive on road courses.

There is at least one sponsor of the board that sells helmets - Bulletproof Automotive - and I'd have a look at Racers Wholesalers.
