I've never personally run HP+ pads but from what I've heard about them they should work fine in the rear with the XP10s up front. If you run ABS it'll cover most mismatches anyway. You've got to be a pretty good driver pushing the car very hard to actually notice a difference.

HP+ are a lot more grabby/bitey than XP10s. Without ABS, could be disastrous. That would be more rear-biased (less stable) than XP10s all around. No good reason to go that route. I have never had any reason to run different pads front/rear, but if I did, xp10/xp8 would be a much better way to go.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm the best driver in the world too!
I think I'll run them as is. Trackday is this Monday so I'll let you know how it goes. One more question, it's calling for rain Monday, can you" bed" pads properly in the wet? Won't be very warm either.

Technically, to get the best bed in it should be a different day than the event.

That being said, I usually go through enough sets of pads that it usually doesn't happen that way for me.

I'd try to get the pads in early and bed them in in the dry. If you have brake ducts tape them shut for the bedding.

Would that be duct tape for the brake ducts?

LOL!!! I DD my car, and I'm super ghetto. So, I have my brake ducts taped shut with black duct tape and drive around like that everywhere. I just peel the tape off when I get to the track. I also drive around with a roll of duct tape, on the floor beside my passenger seat (to serve as my cup holder for my morning coffee), a roll of painter's tape in the trunk, and my breaker bar in the trunk too.

People look at me like wtf is all this for?!?!?

As for the OP, if you're running a staggered setup, then you should most likely be fine with xp10 all around. If your ABS is still functional, then you shouldn't have to worry. They're consumables. Run the xp10s all around. Buy some XP8s for the rear. track that, and see which combo you like. Then, but some xp12 fronts and try 12/10 F/R and try that combo. If you get serious enough about tracking, you'll use them all up and be going through pads pretty fast - fronts probably 5x faster than rears (brake ducts will help with pad life a little bit).

I've tracked quite a few brake combos but always staggered somehow. I was really satisfied with HT10/HP+ combo but decided to try carbotechs based on the popularity on this forum.

Anyways, it stopped raining tonight so I took the advice and bedded them. Already impressed with the initial bite and feel!

Thanks again, I'll report back with my impressions from Monday.

Pads worked great! Reallly like the pedal feel and didn't notice any instability.
