The biggest problem you have is a suspension that doesn't match your tire sizes... thus, you rear tires are overworked and they die. The only thing can do to fix the problem is change sway bar or spring rates.... or, of course, tire sizes.

Reducing toe in will only lead to more oversteer on corner entry and thus will compound the problem of overworking the rears since you'll be carrying an oversteer that was developed earlier in the turn longer through the turn.

Running a compromised suspension/ tire setup sucks.

Oh, regarding the new tire sizes, the car should behave a bit better but it will probably be slower overall. Let us know how it works for you. Don't adjust the toe. Keep this tire switch as the only change if for nothing else but to learn the difference between tire sizes. Too many variables will just confuse you in the future and you will have learned nothing.

Agreed the suspension doesn't match tire sizes. The factory AP1 arrangement! Doh...

Too late to keep toe the same, just got back from the alignment shop.
Front: camber = -1.6*, toe = zero
Rear: camber = -2.3*, toe = 2x0.22* = 0.44* (.192")

Dunno where the additional half degree negative camber in the rear came from, but I'll take it!

Actually, once I got used to the initial "lurch" at the Glen (my 1st track day in the S), I was fine with it.

It was day two at Mosport when the car's handling got really spooky, had to drive super-conservatively (which isn't my style at all). This was primarily due to prematurely worn-out rear tires.

So, my *hope* is that I've sacrificed a bit of initial turn-in stability early in the life of the tires in exchange for better driveability later in their life.

Guess I'll find out soon enough! I'll report back how it goes at Mt. Tremblant.

I was recently at RA and ran a rear toe of 1/8" toe-in and it felt great. I have a stock suspension AP1 w/ AP2 wheels and stock RE050s. It was sliding a bit late the in the day (front and rear) (I was overdriving a bit) but it seemed predictable.

I was very unsure of my rear toe setting since I have been reading in the forum, but again I was surprised. I am very happy with it.

Any suggestions on cold tire pressures.

Rear toe of 0.44 is just fine. That should keep the rear in but I agree need more rear tire and less spring (sway) in the back. You can do that by adding a stiffer front sway and/or remove the rear.

If class rules allowed it, I'd definitely have a stiffer bar up front. I might try disconnecting the rear at some point. I'll see how it goes Monday with the new alignment and oddball tire sizes. The 205/45-16 F, 225/50-16 R sizes look pretty amusing. BIG rear sidewalls, leetle fronts, oooh, racy...

For street tires? Dunno for sure, but 35F/33R cold should be ballpark I'd imagine.
