Default 00 AP1 vs Bug Eye WRX

Theres a car show every tuesday night, at least for this week since summers passed. Theres been this dude who has been wanting to run my friends 02 mustang gt (i/lt//hfc/xpipe/e/gears[3.73s]) for a while, hes running the bug eye. We kinda know him through some mutual friends and from what he told us and such hes got i/stg 2tbe/tuned to 18 psi on a stock turbo. He comes over starts joking around about running the mustang and i asked him to run, never my thing really to ask for a run just wanted to see how itd go, my friend also wanted to see his car move before he gave it a run....****ing mustangs...wrx guy was a chill dude too.

little side note, i ran the stang a month ago, stayed with him, bang 4th and at around 80 he walked me nice a 2-3 lengths

We go off to the area, i tell him lets go from a 20, we stage up, all i heard was spool (windows down) im right at a good rpm, first run he gets a slight jump i stay at his door, bang second, im at his bumperish lol. i miss third...

We go again, 20 roll, same thing, i got a better jump this time, bang 2nd round his bumper, bang 3rd, i stay with him for a tiddle bit then he walks me id say a solid 2-3 lengths, bang 4th and hes about the same i couldnt really tell if he was pulling on me still or we were keeping pace but im sure he was moving some what still, few seconds into 4th im at about 100 and he shuts down as i do the same.

brake boosting is probably an understatement the way it sounded during the honks

I left and he stayed at the spot, i was paranoid as **** for good reason it seems. He runs my friends mustang, my friend had him by a couple cars by 80 and he shut down. The wrx was smoking after running me twice according to him.

Im sure he has the faster car, i feel like i was shortshifting (ill run threw the gears and my friend will always say im holding it to 8-8.5).

I havent even had the car for a month too....im running 18s (stern st-1 beasts) that came with the car....BONE STOCK (cut resonator, gutted air box)

How does this outcome sound to yall?

Stock ap1 vs bug eye wrx 1/stg2 tbe/18 psi 20 roll

s2k looses 3ish~ lengths at 100ish.

hmmm...it's plausible. I don't know where he's getting his top end from though....maybe race gas or something.

I had a WRX some time ago. When I had TBE/18psi Tune (intake doesn't do much), I trapped between 99-102mph. It was a little quicker than a stock S2000.

I'm sure the tunes are more aggressive these days.

aeman trust me, wasnt on race gas. And indeed, im prettyt sure i can use a driver mod, was a fun race though!

^ trapping only 99-102mph, you did horrible.


next time start from 30 mph in first.

always start at 6k or above, wrx's top end arnt that good and run out of steam @ higher rpms

hmm! i see that nobody gives the wrx credit but only mention "ricer" statement like the wrx top end is suck like it's going to drop dead at high rpms. I see that the s2000 just can't loose.

those turbos drop boost at high rpms. so top end actually does suffer.

*cough*

I rode in my friends wrx that has 230 whp and 280 wtq and his boost gauge shows some real boost droppage in 3rd and 4th gear at higher rpms.

No...102 is on the highside for a Cobb Stage 2 car with just a TBE + tune.
