Default 01 AP1 Vs 06 STi

The other night as I was leaving a local car meet, I met a friend with and Sti and told

him I never ran a stock STi before and asked if he wanted to do a friendly run. So as

we headed out we lined up from a 30 roll. After second gear I began pulling away from

him and by the time we got to 100mph I had about a car on him. Honestly I thought I

was going to lose, but i guess without their AWD helping, I was able to pull. Also I lined

up against a AP1 on the highway and I had a passenger and he was stock, from 60-100

I pulled a car and he even had the jump, maybe driver mod .

Cliff Notes

AP1 vs STi
30mph-100mph
S2000 ahead by one car

Stock AP1 vs Modded AP1
65mph-110mph
Modded ahead by 1 car

My mods
K&N Fipk Intake
BuddyClub SpecIII no muffler straight pipe w/Testpipe
Vafc2 leaned out a little by me, but not dyno tuned.

A 13.1 in an STI would be with a [far] better than average driver and that's including the AWD launch. Brush up on your bench racing.

I can believe it considering how not everyone is a perfect driver and not every race happens under the exact same conditions. The difference in their theoretical trap speeds could be easily covered by the hundreds of other variables that exist.

It's not like the guy said he smoked a Viper or ZO6 with a bolt-on AP1. Cut him some slack. Everyone acts as if every race is cut and dry just by looking at the hp:weight.

if you know anything about our cars a simple dropin, test pipe/exhaust, and a minor tune wouldn't shave .5 (half seconds) off our cars.

and by the way, the best stock 1/4 mile time for ANY year s2000 is 13.6x

quoting the ET doesnt help this discussion, finding the trap speed for both cars does, since the race was done from a rolling start

the sti's 1/4 mile time (ET) is much quicker because of the AWD launch, just look at the s2000 and sti's time slip and look at the difference between their 60' times

both sti and s2000 trap around 100mph. yes a well driven sti on a roll should still take a stock s2000 unless the race was started from like 80mph or something then it'll be much closer

i'm guessing the sti in discussion started the race in 2nd rather than 1st gear, or had a slower 1st to 2nd upshift than the s2k...if the race started in the meat of the powerband in 2nd gear for the Sti then the outcome might have been different...
