OP, you beats the driver of that STi, not the car itself.

I'm sure the car would have smoked him if nobody was driving it.

The fact is he DID beat an STI. I don't see why so many people find it necessary to detract from the OP's kill. And let's forget the fact that the race was from a roll, and that the S2k was modded. The STI is NOT in an entirely different league, but I guess people find more satisfaction in being negative towards anyone that posts a kill on this site(barring the clearly made up stories).

i've only got a cat back, my cat is still in.

we went from a 2nd gear roll. left him by about 2 cars by just over 170kmh

I raced a friend of mine in his 05 sti(completely stock) He had a 140lb passenger with him. We started around 60 and i started catching up slowly by 100mph. We stopped at 100mph but If we kept going I was going to pull inch by inch. My AP1 was completely stock.

A modded S2k like OP's shouldn't have any problems keeping up or inch away from a stock STi, but only at higher rolls (70mph or above). OP's race is between 30-100mph and he already has a car length on the STi then. Thats where I finds it interesting. I've driven/raced both cars and for OP to put a car length on the STi from 30 to 100mph, there's a really good chance that STi's driver screwed up.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/...pecs_price.html

MotorTrend 2004 STI
0-60 4.87
1/4 in 13.23@104.6

MotorTrend 2006 STI.
0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
1/4 in 13.0 @ 103.5 mph

__________________________________________________ _______________

MotorTrend 2001 S2000 (AP1)
0-60 in 5.2 seconds
1/4 in 13.84 @100 mph

MotorTrend 2004 S2000 (AP2)
0-60 in 5.8 seconds
1/4 in 14.19 @ 99.9 mph

Those are Motortrend results of both the first gen and re-freshened versions of both cars to get the average.

Okay.....lets look at this logically. A stock STI will trap about 104mph on average (trap speed is a good indication when racing from a roll), a stock s2000 AP1 or AP2 will trap about 100mph. In order for the OP to pull a stock STI by 1 car length from a 30-100mph roll, the OP's S2000 must be trapping a good bit more than 104mph in the 1/4 to do it. The OP S2K has to be trapping about 105-106+ to be able to overtake a 104mph car from a 30-100mph roll....with his MODS...I HIGHLY doubt it. To top it off, a stock STI should sling shot away at basically any speed vs. a N/A S2000. 300ft lbs of torque > 155ft lbs.

He beat the driver..end of story.

*edit* I just read the story again and the S2000 even had a passenger. LOL, which makes the whole story even more unbelievable.

Holy crap. I doubt he would waste the time to come on here and lie about beating a Scooby. I beat a C6 with my AP1... but I sure as hell know I beat the absolutely horrendous driver in the car and not the vehicle itself.

Right, because every car that Motor Trend gets to test with is the exact same as every other of the thousands of cars that the factories produce. Also, they test every car at the exact same time/place/temperature, so it's highly unlikely that there could be any other variables that could alter results.

Maybe in a perfect world, but I've seen two of the same car dyno 10+whp apart on the same day and magazine times are an estimate at best. I doubt the STI driver was extremely incompetent as some would have us believe, but there's no doubt that driver ability was one of the MANY variables that can't be accounted for. All anyone has is theories, not proof, so why is it so hard to take the side of the guy that was ACTUALLY THERE.
