Default 4.77 AP1 vs. G35 Coupe

A few nights ago when I was leaving work and heading home, a young fellow in a G35 coupe lines up next to me at a red light. I don't really like to race from a dig since I'm not willing to launch my car. My car has been having a weird vibration issue coming from the rear that starts at around 60mph or so, so I haven't really been able to play much, especially from a roll, so I was pretty excited to finally get some action.

When the light went green, we took off. We got up to 60-70 and I let off. To my surprise, there was a full car length of gap in between us. Surely if we continued on he probably would've reeled me in a bit. I was a bit surprised because I thought it would be a lot closer than that. Gotta love gears!

Haha I bet that would affect how your G feels. Whenever I drive my dads RX8 it feels slow as shit. He just got a new Vette though. Thats a different story!

Sounds about right. The G35's really aren't very fast. G37's are a good bit quicker.

S2ks with gears out of the hole up to about 80 or so are pretty quick compared to stock gearing. If you have gears and you're willing to drive it hard from a dig, you can come out on top over a bunch of cars you normally *shouldnt* beat.

1. Loved the write up!
2. I've always had a fascination with the 4.77 gears, and this revives it, but, I'll get over it, again, ha!
3. I have an 04 that I bought April of 2010 with 8745 miles on it (love to brag about that!), and I would rather have low end torque and give up all kinds of top end, b/c I won't go over 80 mph, and 90 ever; I'm too scared of a ticket!
4. I get 25 mpg going back and forth to work every day in the S, with 30 tops on the highway the few times I get to take it for a short trip. I wonder how your mpg is affected, if you keep track.

strange. I've ran against a slightly (?) modded 350Z and pulled half a car.

40 roll to 80 or so,

me: 01 S, intake, test pipe

him: at least a full exhaust.

The G35s are significantly slower than the 350z, no?
