'72 Vette
Pulled out of school today next to a 72 Vette...bright red, racing numbers on the side, lots of go-fast stickers and the rumble from the exhaust to back up the vinyl. We pulled up to a stoplight - its an older guy, about 50, with his wife riding shotgun. The sound coming from his exhaust was enough to shake my a$$ just sitting next to him. We talk a bit...yeah, its a big block, dual 4bbls, crane cams. Light changes, we roll off, get stopped at the next light. More small talk attempted over the volcano-like noise coming from his car. A few more stoplights and talk, we end up pulling onto the highway. We square up, he revs, I rev back, we punch it. I was in 2nd at 30 mph, he pulled away on me pretty quick. By 90 at the end of 3rd, he was several (OK, more than several) car lengths on me. We shut down, I caught up to him again, gave the thumbs up and took my exit. Didn't run him to win (in fact I never run anybody), just did it to see such bada$$ muscle in action.
Yup, I raced an 04' 996 TT a couple of weeks ago....guy was in his Sixties or so. What was funny is, usually I'm the one wanting to race cars like this to see there and my potential. He actually chased me down and honked the horn. I talked to him for a minute, extremely nice guy. Did I mention he crushed me
this reminds me of one nite, josh and i were leaving the psca races, we chilled with artis, and watched him break and rebreak the record. as we were leaving (wooded out) we hit the freeway, and one of the local street cars is cruising home, a red SS camaro running small tire class, and had been running 10.30 ish all nite. well, i side up with him and smile, same deal, just love hearing that sound, he points ahead, and i just rip it at 60 in 3rd, he nails it and it takes a sec for the cam to really come on, and he extends the front shocks and pulls away like an F15. LOL. josh and i laughed so hard we were doubled over, and when we caught up, he had the huge grin and gave us the thumbs up. cool guy, wicked car. lates, check my fav ride below. fastest "wild street" record holder, artis houston. 8.39 mid 160-170 mph car.

my buddies dad used to go out w/us and race. he has an older ZO6, but my buddy had a 70 camaro something or another running 12's at the track. first night out on the streets his dad bailed us outta jail for racing, never done it since, only on the track. it was freaking awesome! (except for the record that carries w/me now and my dad being pissed)
A few years back, when I had my Supra, there was a guy probably in his late 50's, early 60's egging me on in his new 911 Cabrio. So of course I ran him... and beat him, he gave me a thumbs up and went on his way.
