Default Anyone Race A....

Has anyone raced a C5 automatic on the highway?

The reason i'm asking is that i've raced two C5's in my S and both times it been from about 100mph on the highway and the vette really dosen't go anywhere on me. So I was just curious if anyone has any numbers on an automatice C5 or has had any encounters with them.

I believe Wes has a video somewhere of him and Zerin running a C5. Might wanna do a search for it. It should answer any and all questions about an S2000 (a supercharged one at that) being able to keep up with a Vette. As I understand the Vette was stock except for a swapped final gear.

I really doubt an S2000 stands a chance against any C5 auto or manual @ 100 mph! Thats playing to his strength.

my cd is .28. It's tough to beat a C5 up top unless you have a lot more power. They're just too aerodynamic. But it would be fun

Even the final gear comes stock in the C5.

My brother actually raced a C5 at highway speeds (and more, up to about 125) with his Lexus GS400 and the Vette couldn't really pull on him at all. I was surprised to hear this but he also said the Vette was fairly new (no plates) so it might not have been broken-in yet.

1. Can I go to the Chevy dealer and get a brand new Vette with those gears in the rear? I'm guessing yes.

2. If the answer to 1. is yes, do ALL the vettes come standard with those gears, or is it considered an upgrade (like bigger wheels or something).

Thanks.
No, only the manuals come with those gears standard.
