Okay, so my cousin and I were on our way to a family party on Sunday (mothers day). Nice sunny afternoon. We just bought a few pints of ice cream for our mothers and aunties.

While driving, I see a brand new dark grey Pontiac Solstice! I told my cousin, "ooo, look, Solstice!" He replies, "What the hell is that, looks ugly fool." I personally think they look nice, and look more expensive than their sticker price. Anyways...

We make a right, going the same direction as the Solstice. I was at the red light directly behind it, with about 2-3 cars in both lanes in front of us. It was an elderly man and his wife. Me and my cousin were just discusssing the Solstice, because he didn't know much about it. Light turns green, I take off really slow shifting at about 2,200rpm, til 4th gear. I don't like to like racing on the street. Especially this guy, he had no plates, top down, wife with him, I knew he would try something funny. So I tried to back off.

Anyways, the whole right lane opens up. He changed lanes and I see his car squat (WOT). He takes off. He was already a good 4 cars ahead when he made the lane change. I switched lanes too, not to chase him, but because the cars in my lane were going really really slow. Right before we went under the freeway tunnel, He's still on it, and had about a good 5 second head start and 8 cars on me. The street being completely clear, I said what the heck and downshift to 2nd. The rpm's were right in Vtec point. So my engine is screaming as I get out from under the tunnel, and I'm making ground really really quickly. My cousin said he saw the guy tilt his head to look in his rear view mirror. I switch back to the left lane, and pass him til i'm a good 2 cars ahead, then shut down. I went hard til the top of 3rd gear, I only upshifted to 4th to prevent from bouncing off the rev-limiter.

I didn't get to see the guys reaction because once I passed him, he slammed on his brakes, and we had to make a left at the next light to go to my aunties house. I wonder what he was thinking, he had a huge huge jump on me, yet I passed him like he was in reverse. Great looking cars in my opinion, but pretty damn slow. However, I think the GXP solstice would put up a decent fight.

Good race, but I'm gonna leave it on the track from now on.

 

I think it's been said before... you shouldn't pick on the handicapped (even if they are good looking).

 

maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem like he was racing u at all?

i mean he was goin WOT, but how do u know he still was still at it when u started chasing him?

not sayin what happened it's not possible, because the solstice is pretty slow, just the way the story was written got me a bit confused..or maybe it's just cuz it's 4 am and i'm really tired lol

Loser in Honduh S2000 did a ricer fly-by on me yesterday. Probably thought he beat me in his over-priced miata...Soooo many more people were looking at my phat Solstice at the redlight instead of his S2000. S2000's are sooo gay with their dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder. The Solstice lines are timeless just like the Fiero...blah....blah...blah.

 

No he was going . Sorry if I confused you in the story, no he kept giong until the point where i passed him, then he let off. cause i was gaining pretty efficiently (u could tell he was trying), then once i switch lanes to pass him, and get a car on him, he just drops into my side view, so i shut down as well.

there's a young guy (about 30) who works near me and parks in the same lot..last week he informed me that his Solstice was faster than my S because he had 18 inch wheels...the following day I drove my wife's 06 auto TSX to work and had the pleasure of teaching Mr 18" wheels a quick lesson with the TSX.. he told me he had no idea that a TSX was faster than my S....can't win sometimes
