yesterday, coming from the airport at night had a car follow about 2 car lenghts behind me right after I merged onto the highway.

I kept going in the fast lane as everyone in front moved into the slower lane (they were very courteous ). All the while with said car on my tail.

Finally I exited the highway and got a chance to see what was behind me previously and now continuing on in the fastlane.... a NON-GXP Solstice!

Driver must have thought he was part of the "pack" (or he was just in a hurry )

I think its going to be a little more one-sided than that. With 260hp, alot more torque than us and about the same weight, they should be good for a 5 second 0-60 time and probably mid 13's in the quarter. Just my .02.
Actually, Solstice GXP / Sky Redline are pretty heavy for the kind of vehicles they are. I believe they're around the ~3100ish lbs range. Never driven one (yet) but all the reviews i've read, they didn't live up to their claimed HP. Still, they look pretty nice.....they'll look even more nice when exterior kits are available for them. As far as speed competition between the GXP and the S2000, the GXP can be readily modify to go faster with more boost and bolt-ons.

I've bumped into a few solstices and skys on the road, and some of the owners were pretty uppity and had to be shown their place in the food chain. I think my wife's scion is faster. I have run into a couple guys that were real cool though. I pulled into a gas station to gawk at one and the owner and I chatted for a bit. I've not seen any turbo versions yet though, those should be pretty quick.

This weekend I was pulling out of a parking lot and a guy in a solstice drove by just before I pulled out. I could see him craning his neck in the mirror after he went by to see if I was going to get out.

I get out on the road a few cars back, me in the right lane him in the left. I see the light turn red so I figure I'll get to pull up next to him, not to race, but so he can get a good look at a real car. He blows through the red light and speeds off. I never did see him again.

That's exactly the attitude we don't need. Everytime I see statements like that It makes me think the poster has SMS (small man syndrome). It's not good to measure manhood by vehicle

The solstice and sky are nice cars. Coworker just got a sky, the only think I don't like is that she paid above MSRP for it. It's never worth paying over MSRP for a vehicle that will be readily available in 6 months to a year.

My brother has a solstice. I don't only know someone with one, I've driven it SEVERAL TIMES. Not impressed AT ALL!

On the contrary, I think an SMS would have a Viper, Corvette or something like that. Typically, people with SMS go LARGER.

Or with what they can afford...thus resulting in more SMS because they can't afford the viper or corvette that would fully satisfy their need for feeling big or more manly.

Very good point. I hadn't thought of that. Now that you mention it, I do feel kinda big and bad when I drive around in my lower priced (affordable) Honda S2000. I just never thought anyone would be able to see right through me. Thanks for the insightful observation.

Thanks for continuing the "my car is better than your car" attitude of several car forums. We make fun of domestic guys for that very same attitude. Keep representing us in a negative way
