ap1 vs ap2

If he had gears then you wouldve probably won, at high speeds that gears are actually a disadvantage. I pulled on an ap1 with 4.77s vs my stock ap1 from 70-120 by about a car. But from 0-70 he will take me by about 2-3 cars. Either way I have an ap1 but im not in denial that ap2's ARE faster.

It depends on which day of the week it is

I believe a while ago I saw a list of all the AP1's and AP2's that have managed a 13.7 or better at the track. And there were twice as many AP1's. This was also a while ago so maybe its out dated now.
My whole understanding on the whole AP1 Ap2 thing is.. The AP2 was the more friendly everyday driver version of the s2000. More torque and a more accessible powerband made life easier/more enjoyable for the everyday American driver (aka you didn't have to rape the shit out of it to run a high 13 second pass). Suspension was made softer, rear end isn't as tail happy, a little more room inside, heavier, etc. However, when both cars have a phenomenal driver behind the wheel, the Ap1 was the faster car not only in a straight line, but around a track also. It's when in the hands of your average Joe the AP2 will outshine the AP1.
Now I could be wrong, but that's just my understanding. Not to mention I didn't lose to any of them in my AP1. And I use to ride with the south Fla s2k crew, where there would be 40-50 s2k's all riding out to the same spot or whatnot. But whatever helps some guys sleep an night I guess.

I can chime into this because I am on my 3rd S2000 right now.
2002 ap1
2004 ap2
2007 ap2
Best Motoring in Japan did a test stock for stock and the ap2 is definitely faster in a straight line. We all know how good those guys can drive, 98% or so of the people on the board will never be able to see those limits ever.
I'd have to say the ap1 could be faster on certain tracks, as could the ap2 (seeing as though you can hold the rpm's more in the ap1).
If there was such thing as equal drivers (which is never the case), the ap2 would be quicker, marginally (i'd say 1.5-2 cars by the end of the quarter).
I've had quite the experience too with pushing both ap1's/ap2's

thats you.
