Default ap1 vs audi tt

So I was on my way to my co-workers house cuz a bunch of us carpool to work, and have to stop at a redlight on the way. I end up lined next to a newer (probably 03-04, not exactly sure) TT convertible with some dude driving it. I didn't think they were really that fast, so when the light turned green i didnt launch or anything, just started off normal.

He looked like he was kind of trying to go fast, so instead of just going near 6k, i redlined it through 1st and 2nd, then shifted to 3rd to let the gears slow me back down to legal speeds. He was about a car and a half behind me after 2nd, and when I stopped accelerating he went past me a moment later and sped all the way up to the next traffic light where he was turning.

It was a fun run and infused my day with energy before I got to work, haha.

Cliffs Notes: s2000 > dude in an audi tt.

Yeah, they aren't worth the price IMHO unless you just really want an Audi convertible.

A TT convertible is heavy as f***!

The 3.2 with a DSK is a nice drive, but you're looking at adding anywhere from 300-400lb for it being a convertible, and roughly the same because it's got Quattro... With this configuration, it weighs just short of a Veyron, lol.

I did find a 1.8T with 225hp in coup

I enjoy driving the 225hp coupe. You should also remember that the wastgate on the cars are electronic which means you can make very nice gains with a chip/tune.

my friend has the 1.8 180hp coupe. it's a really nice car but it is not a really fast car. i love the turbo feeling and the interior knocks the crap out of our cars...understandably the s2000 wasn't built for luxury cruising.

Doesn't sound like much of a race. The car may be slow but 1.5 cars by 2nd? AND no launch? Sounds more like civic vs. S2k.

I like the interior

And you've driven one right?

I'm a huge S2k fan and love my car, but if there's another roadster I really do enjoy driving once in a while, its my uncle's 3.2TT DSG with the S-Line sport package (stiffer suspension, summer rubber, 18" wheels, agressive bodywork).

BRILLIANT Gearbox. Superb. Amazing. I just love cracking off a perfectly matched downshift with a flick of a paddle.

The 3.2VR6 motor, revs extremely fast, and is extremely smooth, not to mention it pulls the TT's mass VERY well. It would probably take an average S2000 from a dig, if you didn't launch the S2000 properly or shift quick, since its so easy to extract quick times out of the TT.

The exhaust note is to die for and would shame the S2000. As would the interior and the exquisite exterior.

Overall they're excellent cars. The OP must have raced a 180hp one. The 225hp ones are quick and even quicker with mods since they respond well because their turbo'd from factory. The 3.2's a beastly. The engine/tranny combo is extremely good.

I have a friend from Sydney who works with Qantas and has a bit of a blue-blood demeanor.
She was up in Brisbane a few months after I got my s2k. I was dropping her off back to were she was staying, and she was commenting on my car.
"Oh, my sister has a car like this. It's an Audi TT convertible. It's really quick."
Mind you, up until this point, I was just driving it easy. I was a little amused by the comparison, and replied "I don't think the TT is *quite* like this car"
vtec 1st. vtec 2nd.
Her eyes are wide shut.
"shit shit shit! SLOW DOWN!"

hahaha....

Actually i'm glad you pointed that out, because yes I have and a good friend of mine owns one. It's a nice "cruiser" at best. The car from a performance aspect isn't worth the money. I'm a performance oriented person so that's why I'm in the S, most bang for your buck roadster out there.
