Default Ap1 vs Evo 8

Well about an hour ago, I was leaving the city of Cerritos headed inland, eastbound on the 91 fwy. I was cruising in the slow lane minding my own biz when a wicked white evo 8 pulls up beside me and begins reving and letting me know he has a noisy BOV.

To my suprise he knows proper roll racing edicut by givng me a signal and he begins to honk, at this point we have slowed down to about 45-50ish and im in 2nd gear, after the honks we are off. i pull right off the honk, flat foot 3rd...my pull stops, slam 4th and pull another half car.... by the top of 4th gear i have a full car on him. after that little run, he wants another try, so we do the exact same thing with the exact same outcome.

we got off at the same exit and he pulls up says "that thing is quick, and F'n loud" we exchange mod info and we go our seprate ways....... but not before he says "stay up dog"

hes mods consisted of a TBE ( not sure what brand, catted or de-catted) and i believe the distinct sound of a HKS bov.

my mods are T1R test-pipe, Spugen 63mm single cat-back, and a K&N drop in.

thats all for my first street encounters post! enjoy

good run, wait until you vafc/emanage that car, you'll feel the gains on the hwy for sure.

i love when i heard loud bov's on evo's, its a sign the owner doesnt know WTF hes doing tuning the car.

i too would go a differant route with an evo, probly skip the bov and get a tune....

but and ebo with just a TBE seems to still run ok. i mean his car wasnt running bad or anything....

what is the best possible trap for and evo 8 with just a TBE? i know the 05s are quite a bit quicker, but on average??

106-107. leaving the bov un-recirclated is bad for evos. hes probably has an open element air filter on a untuned car, causing it to run rich= slower than a stock 8.

best way to mod and evo...

drop in filter
TBE
Test Pipe
WORKS P1 flash.

on 9s thats good for 315 or so to the wheels, on 05 8's 290-300whp, and on 03-04 evos 275-280whp.

the TBE and the tune are what makes the power.
