106-107. leaving the bov un-recirclated is bad for evos. hes probably has an open element air filter on a untuned car, causing it to run rich= slower than a stock 8.

best way to mod and evo...

drop in filter
TBE
Test Pipe
WORKS P1 flash.

on 9s thats good for 315 or so to the wheels, on 05 8's 290-300whp, and on 03-04 evos 275-280whp.

the TBE and the tune are what makes the power.
there is no way he was slower than a stock 8.....

if he had a injen/aem/kn intake running on the stock ecu then you bet your bottom dollar he is. the stock ecu sees the extra air, reads it as a bad thing, add fuel...bam pig rich and slow. i work with alot of evo guys everyday, i have taken down 9's that have been setup said way. it kills evos to do that and not tune accordingly. evos HAVE to be modded a certian way to become the monsters we know and love!

who knows, mybe he could have had an intake too, but didnt tell me...... i couldnt smell anything while i was behind him so that leads me to believe he was still catted, and his bumper was still nice and white.

i guess he was a little hurt that he lost in the first place, he probly didnt wanna add insult to injury by nameing off other usless mods.

but he did alot better than 1 other bone stock 03 evo a friend of mine has....
good show. s2k boogie on the hwy for a NA 2.0. i am bloody tired TTYL bro.

Test pipe/cat delete pipe are one and the same and are different from a downpipe. So he didnt mean downpipe. He meant full turbo back (which includes the DP, test pipe and catback sections).

i too would go a differant route with an evo, probly skip the bov and get a tune....

but and ebo with just a TBE seems to still run ok. i mean his car wasnt running bad or anything....

what is the best possible trap for and evo 8 with just a TBE? i know the 05s are quite a bit quicker, but on average??

With a base dynoflash, factory DP and the rest of the exhaust as 3inch catless pipe with muffler I ran a 12.91 at 106 mph.

That was on 93 octane on the heavier sound, sun and leather package with no MBC (21psi tapering to ~19 psi) or other performance mods on my 05.

Add in the 3 in DP and MBC, raise the lauch limit from 5K to 6K and remove the clutch restrictor pill and a better driver, should be ~12.2-12.5 at 109mph ish.

I prefer not to do the above mods so I can just pop my cat in when I go to the dealer every 3 months for an oil change. Its harder for mistu to deny warranty work when you have a full dealership history and your car appears stock every time you take it there.
